Geithner's Day in India

On Tuesday, Treasury Secretary Geithner will be in Delhi, India.
 
In the morning, Secretary Geithner will visit a storefront in Samhalka Village that offers mobile banking services to its customers. The visit, an initiative of Eko, a nonprofit organization offering “branchless banking,” and the State Bank of India, will highlight the steps India has taken to expand financial access" – a key part of achieving more balanced and inclusive economic growth."
 
Later, the Secretary will meet with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Prime Minister’s residence. 
 
Following that, Secretary Geithner will have a bilateral meeting with Indian Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee at the Taj Palace Hotel. 
 
Immediately after, Secretary Geithner and Minister Mukherjee will lead a government-to-government dialogue to launch the U.S.-India Economic and Financial Partnership at the Taj Palace Hotel. "The newly-formed Partnership aims to strengthen bilateral engagement and understanding on macroeconomic, financial sector and infrastructure-related issues.".

In the afternoon, Secretary Geithner and Minister Mukherjee will hold a joint press conference at the Taj Palace Hotel. In the evening, Secretary Geithner will join Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, India’s Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, for a moderated discussion, “Shaping our Post-Crisis World: Prospects for Economic and Financial Sector Reform” at the ITC Maurya Hotel.
