Connecticut is preparing to borrow $956 million to close a budget gap in the fiscal year beginning July 1, after borrowing money last year to cover a deficit of $947.6 million. Not good. Fitch has reduced the states credit rating from AA+ to AA.
“The downgrade reflects the state’s reduced financial flexibility, illustrated by its reliance on sizable debt issuances during the current biennium to close operating gaps in the context of already high liabilities,” Fitch said.
Connecticut is the wealthiest state on a per capita basis with personal income of $54,397 in 2009, according to Department of Commerce.
The problem with places like CT is that the people who want more government(greedy civil "servants" and their political handlers as well as parents who want their life style subsidized by their neighbors) outnumber those who want fiscal restraint and responsibility. Every year the taxes go up and people who are fed up flee the state, hence those who want fiscal responsibility are always outnumbered. Only 70% of the young men who grew up in CT choose to live there when they grow up, the young woman wonder why they can't find a man to start a family with. Tax payers aren't just fleeing California.
ReplyDeleteI love the comment that Anonymuos above said about how much CT gets back from Washington compared to how much AZ gets back (for the dollar we put in). Why don't we just keep our own dollar and cut out the middle man? If DC doesn't get their hands on it they can't waste it. Fair?
ReplyDeleteI also think that it is hopeless to look to elections for improvement.
ReplyDeleteIt is not the polititicians who are robbing you - they are simply carrying
out the wishes of the people that elect them: your fellow citizens.
Do you really think that all those folks who are now riding on the
gubmint gravy train, are suddenly going to vote to cancel it, merely
out of sympathy for you?
Remember, every day that you go to work, your taxes provide the money that keeps that gravy train rolling. Your taxes furnish the
money that buys the votes that keep these politicians in office.
You will never be rid of them, as long as you keep working.
Can't they get any money from the bountiful Obama stash???
ReplyDeleteCUT GOVERNMENT WORKER SALARIES NOW!
ReplyDeleteits just the start people...just the start. with the passage of 'healthcare reform'...lol. the states will be in a permanant revolving debt trap due to being forced by obama to expand medicade expeditures. oh yah i almost forgot obama & the dems want to give 20 million illegal immigrants amnesty (a pathway to legal residency'..pfft my ---!) people better start getting real serious about getting our credit cards out the juvenile delinquents holding them now. i pray people show up at the polls in november & in 2012....its almost to late to stop the death spiral they have us on.
ReplyDeleteIt's true that our own neighbors are robbing us. I just retired from teaching in AZ, so being one of the few conservative on staff, it gave me a lot of time to reason with the rest. My own children I sent to a little Christian school where there were teachers (who were paid about half what public school teachers are paid), a principal (again much less pay), and the secretary. That was it. So when I constantly heard about all the stuff we needed I pointed out that almost the only thing necessary (besides the above mentioned) was parents who were involved. I was not a popular person.
ReplyDeleteWell when the economy tanked and the immigration issue took ftont and center I suggested that maybe we should hire the illegals to teach. We could get 3 for 1 and then just make it a requirement that they get their certification while on the job. After all those people in construction, many of whom are friends, have seen their pay erode due to an uncontrolled border. If it's good enough for regular working guys it should be good enough for us "professionals", huh?
Now I'm back in the real world working with my son on computers, and loving it.
By the way I never, even once, voted for a pay raise. But you see it doesn't matter because, "It's for the children", (and so that others will pay for your child's education)so these things almost always pass. Maybe now we will start to get wise.

We have one senator whose name starts with a lie who works for a little country in the Middle East. The other senator works for himself.
ReplyDeleteOur population has remained the same for 20 years but State workers have doubled. Anyone reaching retirement establishes residency in the South and only comes back for the summer if at all. Our State retirees pay three bucks for a 90 day prescription and have a nice COLA. For every one of those that leaves one Puerto Rican arrives. In another 20 years the State will consist of State workers, unemployed, and a remaining few Wall Streets elites in Fairfield County. Property taxes are the highest in the country.
The infrastructure, well, lets just say it's about all they can do to fill the biggest potholes with inferior stuff that starts breaking up in days. Peter Schiff is running for the Senate, and says he knows the problem's cause and solution. He hides the fact that he's a Wall Street Millionaire. The only start in the right direction would be the election of Linda McMahon to the Senate. She owes no one and is funding her campain with her own money.
IN MY DAY 1945--WE SAID CONNECTICUT WAS GOD'S COUNTRY...
ReplyDeleteIf you want to go completely bankrupt just keep electing corrupt Zionist politicians like Lieberman and Blumenthal. These people don't care about America. They only care about making themselves rich and getting the political power to force young Americans to die in wars for Israel.
ReplyDeleteThe state is dying - we have pathetic leadership, dis-interested public and an ever shrinking entreprenuerial spirit that once made this a great state. Today it's all about governemnt, unions an unsustainable benefits.
ReplyDeleteI have no pity for CT residents you deserve no handouts but under the Socialist federal Government it will come to you. It buys votes. Once we are reduced to a banana republic it will be to late. The luxuries you enjoy now will be gone. We will become Venezuela soon. One party will rule. Absolute power destroys a Nation.
ReplyDeleteI moved from the midwest to CT a few years ago and still don't get the people out here.....gaga for Obama whose policies basically spell the end of the livestyle of the vast majority of residents of this state. Obama hates most of the people in the US and CT residents by and large are exactly the people Obama hates/resents the most and he is out to destroy them. But I guess when you have a bunch of people who happily run and vote themselves a property tax increase EVERY year, you are not dealing with a very bright crowd!
ReplyDeleteCT is home of the chris dodd hedge fund and "synthetic money" crowd that has destroyed real capital in this country and much of the world.
ReplyDeleteMay they crash well. Are they the wealthiest per capita if you count borroed money? or just plain old stuff that doesn't have a mortgage on it.
Get rid of The Harrison Act!
ReplyDeleteNo wonder its a Democrat controlled state, check out the elitists! Highest dollar per capita state in the union and they are always voting for dems, weird...
ReplyDeleteDemocrats are for the little guy! You know the little guy alone at the country club.
The huge underclass living the lives of housepets.Democratic party housepets ,food and water provided, and shelter of course.Treats too,Cable tv,sneakers.Training also takes place, young girls it's natural to have sex, everyone is doing it,get pregnant have a litter. Now you boys America hates you ,get angry,go to jail, lift weights.Just come out once a year and vote.Bark for the democrat, purr for the socialist. No decisions,no ambition,no needs,no worries,no problems ,no dignity, nice collar.

ReplyDelete$5 Billion in debt added each day to our debt....more than 3 times that of Bush.
{Washignton Times-June 3, 2010}
CHRISTIE in 2012
ReplyDeleteHEY!! Looks like Obama Finance Theory works after all. The richest state's wealth has been effectively spread "to those standing behind them." as was once told to a plumber named Joe, to the point that they no longer have any. I have to ask though, who got it? Not me. Mine is still being spread to people who didn't earn it. Did anyone here have Connecticut's wealth spread to them? Show of hands, please.
ReplyDeleteThe Debt:GDP ratio has increased 20% since Obama took office.
ReplyDeleteCBO: The Health Care Bill will cost $115 Billion more than we estimated before the bill was passed....never read by Obama.
CBO: Obama has added $2 Trillion to our debt in just 13 months.
Obama and its sidekicks see this as an achievement. Before voting this November, if we make it that far, Americans need to look up Cloward and Pivin. Crashing the system is just what the progressives are after. And, they've just about obtained their goal. Welcome to Obamunism. And, thanks to all of you who voted for this. Buyer's remorse? The word was out on Obama long before November 2008. Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, and Joe the plumber were all anyone needed to know before foolishly voting for him. Obama bashing? Isn't crony Dodd, an Obama sidekick, from CT?
ReplyDeleteAre all (or even a simple majority) of the politicians in Connecticut bat sh!t crazy?
ReplyDeleteCAN YOU SAY SOCIALIST STATE OF CONNECTICUT- JOEY LIEBERMAN SOCIALIST INDEPENDENT
ReplyDeleteThe massive overspending in this country is the direct result of the man in the White House.
ReplyDeleteThis article is incorrect. As Obama and the majority of democrats have said, we must continue to spend. Only spending will cure our financial ills.
ReplyDeleteWe are now seeing the effects of statism and kenesian ideology profligated by Obama and his leftist loons on the people of the United States. He is creating a Zimbabwe out of our economy and lying about it. Obama is far more dangerous to the survival of this country than any threat by al Queda.
ReplyDeletePeter Schiff for Senate (CT) is the step in the right direction to fix this out-of-control economic keynesian catastrophe.
ReplyDeleteThey are going to have to spend millions of dollars on a committee to investigate why they don't have enough money to meet their budget needs.................... bafoons.
ReplyDelete"Of course, isn't Connecticut where Bernie Sanders and Joe Lieberman are U.S. senators?"
ReplyDeleteLieberman, yes. Sanders, no. I won't tell you where he's from; make this a learning experience.
People on this board really need to learn how to spell correctly.
ReplyDeleteThose who have will soon be at war with the debt mongers who will seek to take take take.
ReplyDeleteProtect your own and be prepared.
I laugh at anyone who ever voted for a democrat.
ReplyDeleteYou voted for it, here it comes!
Socialism is collapsing, which is cause for celebration. You cannot force people to lend money to you. Inevitably, socialism collapses when they run out of suckers. Most of the unemployed are Democrats, sitting at home and getting a check paid mostly by Republicans. How much longer are taxpayers going to put up with freeloaders who call them racist? The sooner socialism collapses, the sooner real Americans can split the country and create a new, Constitutionally limited, legitimate government. Voting rights will be limited to those who pay taxes.
ReplyDeleteWhen you start running out of other people’s money – the consequences of Socialism become apparent …
ReplyDeleteAs Americans we need to seriously consider what this means. Once the credit stops flowing the economy freezes solid. When this happens our already mounting repossessions and foreclosures (i.e. http://repofinder.com, http://foreclosure.com) will grow completely out of control.
ReplyDeleteThat Connecticutt bond rating should have been reduced to Z--.
ReplyDeleteLet's start prosecuting politicians. We can start with Congress and then go after state politicians. We need to throw them in jail for constantly promising special interests "goodies" and using our tax dollars to deliver those promises. THEY NEED TO STOP AND GO TO JAIL.
ReplyDeleteAh, but the drones (voters) will continue to keep putting them in...why, they are partially responsible for getting the goodies
What happens when you can't pay your taxes. Who really owns everything you "own"? That's where this is going.
ReplyDeleteBarack Hussian Obama...mmm...mmm....mmmm
ReplyDeleteIsn't Texas looking at a 18 billion dollar shortfall in its upcoming budget? It is happening everywhere.
ReplyDeleteWealth doesn't equal smarts. Look at Paris Hilton...
ReplyDeleteCut spending you morons and quit runing this country into the ground.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, the INVASION continues...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.BorderInvasionPics.com
Incompetent state management, spending money they don't have, devaluating their credit standing, driving the bus off the bridge, unable to cut spending, no understanding that they have bled their businesses to sickness doubling state employees when state population has been constant. Connecticut? Yes. But it could just as well be a description of the US under Obama.
ReplyDeleteWe all need to share the blame. Who doesn't want Medicare, Social Security, a strong national defense, good schools, and a well-maintained infrastructure? The problem arises when we have to make tough choices about what to cut. Sure, most of the politicians are gutless, but we have to accept part of the blame. If we aren't willing to state specifically what we're willing to forgo, then we are as culpable as they are.
ReplyDeleteWow, no mention that CT has a GOP governor.
ReplyDeleteWell, when the cannot afford to pay the poor, like Connecticut with 55,000+ bureaucrats, when the system breaksdown. Hello Obama, are you taking notice?
ReplyDeleteThis is a mirror of the future of America. Out of control government spending, usustainable debt, and a moocher class of Americans who believe that the government should take from the productive to give to the lazy and unmotivated will bring this nation down. All with the full approval and cooperation of Obama and his far leftist administration. They must be stopped at all costs, or the America we love will be no more!!
ReplyDeleteIt all comes back to a responsible citizenry. (is that a word?) That's why the first rule of business is to never go into business with someone who has nothing to lose. Skin in the game as "The One" said.
ReplyDeleteTalk, talk, talk.....vote the bastards out of office.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that there are still whites out there who are proud to have voted for obama and the deceptocrats, just because they didn't like Sarah Palin. Ha ha ha ha ... phew, and I'm glad my money is out of the stock market! We're going to be a ghetto nation.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I have been voting for smaller government for years as a matter of principle. Maybe now others will too as a matter of survival.
ReplyDeleteEver heard of living within your budget? Folks, there are countless opportunities to CUT spending. It's gime to vote for men/women that will do exactly that. This business of borrowing our way out of trouble is beyond rationale thinking. We have got to get control of our spending!!
ReplyDeleteIt is sad but somewhat humerous to listed to all of the whining going on this is coming from people who for the most part did not bother to vote in former elections allowing the profesional brigands to get root in politics and corruption, Now when they find their breast in the ringer they spin the blame"O"graph and point fingers at everybody but their selves. Enjoy the finincial crash and hard times that are on the horison we will not escape it.
ReplyDeleteAnother state that has been put in the tank by Liberals. Democrats for years have controlled this state. Maybe the Governor needs to take some night classes from Gov. Christie of New Jersey. I guess you will just have to tax all those wealthy Democrats and take all they have to balance the state budget. This is the Obama way, share the wealth, just give it to the Unions and the DNC. When all these wealthy people have had enough, then they will move, maybe to TEXAS, but leave all your LIBERAL ideaology in CONN.
ReplyDeletehttp://vaperforms.virginia.gov/indicators/govtCitizens/bondRating.php
ReplyDeleteMaryland is as "liberal" as it gets....and they still have a AAA rating.
Louisiana has one of the lowest bond ratings around - in fact, most states have low bond ratings - Red or Blue.
We need to take away universal suffrage so all you uninformed retards have no say - why do you think this country ran so well when we had a limited vote? (I'm not saying racial or gender discrimination is the answer here, I'm talking about, say, only people with Master's Degrees having the right to vote)
Imagine someone from another part of the country with no expertise or information on your raggedy-ass job (other than what some ass on TV told them) decided they know exactly how to do it, and they know all the reasons why the way you've been doing it is wrong.
I bet all you low-lifes would be pretty pissed.
And don't come at me with this "I went to South Texas State and I wear a tie to work so I'm just as informed as anyone else" horseshit.
All you Tea-Bagging cro-magnons need to sit down, shut the fuck up, and let the *actually* informed handle the mess the morons you've been electing since Kennedy have created.
God invented Spike TV to keep y'all properly distracted.
The rape of taxpayers continues, till we no longer have a dollar in our pocket!
ReplyDeleteLook at all the years our senior citizens were forced to pay into S.S., then our elite politicians stole $2.5 Trillion from the funds and never paid it back!
They also dipped their thieving hands into Medicare...now Obama wants them to take a pain pill instead of a treatment!!
I think it's reached pitchfork & torches time!
Wow June 6, 9:02pm
ReplyDeleteFor someone so intelligent, you sure do have a foul mouth, and a horrible attitude!
Truely is odd since Conn has the highest taxes in New England. They imposed an income tax some years ago and never lowered the other taxes. They have the highest gas tax I've ever seen. Where did all that money go?
ReplyDeleteVote for more Democrats and Progressives lets take the United States of America down and the people to do it are not external they are the enemy within. Thank Obama for the heath care that will sink us. Let us not forget the unions and the damage they have done.
ReplyDeleteDamn straight I have a foul mouth - I'm so sick of these Tea-Baggers
ReplyDeleteAll this "movement" is is scared, uninformed people being manipulated by Father Coughlin - whoops I meant Glenn Beck.
Y'all are so willing to blame Democrats because they represent the Other.
By the way, if there were no spellcheck on these comments I'd be willing to bet it'd be as bad as the Yahoo News comments section.
The IMF also released a report today that in under two years, debt for the US government will outpace GDP. Not surprising that following a 324-point Dow plunge Friday, the Dow futures are down another 60+ points Sunday evening!
ReplyDeleteThe Dems have controlled the Connecticut legislature for decades, and they're beholden to the state employees union. Over 53,000 state employees in a state with a total population of just over 3.5 million. And each employee has a defined benefit plan plus full post-retirement medical. The last Governor that proposed layoffs was put in jail. So Connecticut is way ahead of Mass and NY to becoming a socialist state. We're already there, because every private sector employee works for the state employees....not the other way around.
ReplyDeleteObama has added $5 Billion per day to our debt......3 times what Bush did. {Washington Times, June 3, 2010}
ReplyDeleteObama has increased the Debt:GDP ratio by 20% since elected.
Obama has added $2 Trillion to our debt in just 13 months.
IMPEACH OBAMA
ONCE AGAIN POOR REPUBLICANS SHOW THEIR STUPIDITY AT BEST. FOCUSING OD DODD AND OBAMA "FORGETTING', HERE IS THEIR IDIOCY, WE HAD BUSH FOR 8 (EIGHT) YEARS AND 12 YEARS OF REPUBLICAN GOVERNERSHIP. OF COURSE THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FINACIAL CRISIS. THEY WERE NOT THERE. THE ENRON THING AND ROLAND WELL....NOTHING REALLY. HEY STUPID REPUBLICANS HEAR THIS: EVERYTIME A REPUBLICAN LEAVES OFFICE THEY LEAVE THE COUNRTRY AND THIS STATE IN RUIN.
ReplyDeleteHOW CAN YOU BE SO STUPID?????? JUST DO ME A FAVOR: YOU KNOW THAT GUN YOU LIKE SO MUCH? STICK IT YOU KNOW WHERE. YOU "PEOPLE" ARE SO IGNORANT THAT YPU CAN BARELY ADD +, HENCE YPOUR UNABILITY TO BALANCE A BUDGET. SHAME ON YOU, YOU IDIOTS
Lowell Weicker got elected by opposing the income tax. Then when he was in office he immediately supported the income tax to "stabilize" the Connecticut fiscal situation. First it was proposed to eliminate the sales tax, but of course the income tax AND the sales tax exist side by side. And that wasn't enough. Then the state started the lottery, and the proceeds were to be dedicated to education. We'll those proceeds flow into the general fund...and that's not enough. So then they made a deal with the casinos for millions of dollars of revenue....and that's not enough. So now they're going to tax the millionaires more...and guess what! That won't be enough. The roads stink, the services have been cut, and we continue to hire and fund more state employees. I think an AA rating is generous with this type of fiscal history.
ReplyDeleteWe're WAY past spending too much as a campaign issue. Our local, state and federal governments would have to spend NOTHING for 10 years just to break even. There's a fiscal crisis coming, just like that in Europe, that will rock the world's economies. All because our political system encourages our elective representatives to take money to spend our money, from foreign and domestic sources. If our Founding Fathers, or any person of sound mind, saw what has happened in Washington, the State of Connecticut, or any locality, they would be astounded, and disappointed. You can't ask the private sector individuals to pay for public employees, unless they're ABSOLUTELY necessary...not just nice to have.
ReplyDeleteYeah I think that states like ct, ny, cali should be allowed to stop subsidizing Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama... etc until the economic troubles are over.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry the Obama administration wants another 1/2 trillion stimulus again. The last one didn't do anything for the economy except pay off unions
ReplyDeleteThis country is too large to be managed efficiently. Perhaps we need an amicable divorce; the Greek and Roman empires did the same thing years before us.
ReplyDeleteLet the South have its confederacy - sans slavery. Cede the NE to Canada, including NYC. Let the Big Ten States join with the rest of the Central States with Indianapolis or Saint Louis as the Capitol; marginalize Chicago by any and all means.
Let the NW and Alaska become a Pacific Rim country; it is going that way anyways. Give Southern CA to Mexico, and let N.CA, AZ, NM, NV, CO, UT,ID, WY form their own Western Country.
This would break the power of the Wash DC, NY (Media/Banking), Chicago, and LA (Entertainment). Sound fancifull? Read this

Nope doppy, Sanders is from Vermont!
the Obama "trickle down" national bankruptcy plan is *right on target*!! B Hussein Obama,
ReplyDeleteKennedy (Ted), Reid, Pelosi, and their treasonous party "ruling" against the will of the people, common sense, economic soundness and internationl strength. all planned - all designed to bring America down - for the "new social order".
The government payrolls are so bloated that it's unbelievable. And unlike the private sector, it's lifetime employment with nearly unlimited benefits. Absolutely ridiculous. Get rid of these damn payrolland benefit expenses -- just for starters -- and have these state employees find meaningful employment elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteMr. Obama does not give a rats ass about this country. He wants the United States to fail and turned into socialist / marxist country. He is not my President. I would like to tell him in person. He is a disgrace of the office he holds.
ReplyDeleteOne term for sure. He is way in over his head. I would give him credit though if he resigned.
How is it that some of the posts here are so dumb, it's actually beyond belief. How can a US congressman or a US senator has anything to do with the states deficit? It's the State senate or house or governor responsible with local spending or taxes? What has God have anything to do with states deficit for people of that state? Does it mean all the people of USA that are filing for bankruptcies have sinned, so they are being punished by GOD? This shows the dumming down of the masses in US. How will we ever get US back to Number 1 with these tea baggers folks or brainless religious fanatics holding the agenda?
ReplyDeleteGo to schiffforsenate.com and click on the video dated Monday, March 15th if you want to see a few "predictions" from the "mainstream" and Mr. Schiff. The "establishment" will do everything possible to make sure his views are not expressed in the Senate but America needs representatives like Peter Schiff. If I were in Connecticut he would get my vote!
ReplyDeleteThe state is over 80% white...is Connecticut racist by keeping out minorities?
ReplyDeleteYou can only blame the public employees to a degree. We are all on the dole to some degree, social security, medicare, farm subsidies, those paying no taxes, illegal immigrants not paying taxes and sending the money home, gov't backed mortgages, stafford loans, the list goes on. Look in the mirror and count your hand-out.
ReplyDeleteOne problem I see with Connecticut and California is that they receive less in Federal aid than they pay in Federal taxes while states like North Dakota receive far more in aid than they pay.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is time to reel in the states that eat at the public trough and allow other states like Connecticut to keep more of their tax dollars. Last I checked, Connecticut received .64 for every dollar they paid in while residents of North Dakota received $2.03 for every dollar.
municipal/state bankruptcies are the only answer to restructure these onerous public union pensions and sweetheart contracts....its gonna happen eventually, despite Obamas union-pandering subversive adenda.
ReplyDeleteI want to live in a state that pays me to be there. There is so much waste that it is really unbelievable. California is Greece on steroids lol. James
ReplyDeleteThis is just the beginning. Wait until California defaults and goes bankrupt, then Illinois and finally NY........thins are going to get much worse before they get any better
ReplyDeleteThat's how the Dems balance the Connecticut Budget. Borrow more money. So much so that they negatively affect the state's credit status. Some balanced budget. I'm going to the bank tomorrow and borrow some money to balance my budget. Stupid, stupid, stupid. And the only ones that pay the price are the citizens, their children and grandchildren, just because our politicians don't have the guts to do what's right...just to stay in office. Shame on them.
ReplyDeleteVote for Peter Schiff, the free-market economist, for Senate!
ReplyDeleteHe is in a primary vs. Linda McMahon, the candidate who has donated to Rahm Emanuel!
Like I said before let's not send our money to the middleman. If the Feds don't have the money they can't waste it. Oh, and one other thing, no more of this unfunded mandate stuff, if the Feds want it they pay for it. If they don't have the money well it isn't that important, just like those of us who live in the real world.
ReplyDeleteI live in CT. The liberals control the populous cities i.e, Bridgeport, Hartford, and Stamford. As is typical, these are large urban cities with major urban problems. It is sad bc Bridgeport at one time made most of the munitions for WWI and WWII and was a major industrial hub. However, after 40+ years of ridiculous liberal mayors (Ganim went to prison for 10yrs for corruption in 2000 and one Republican mayor that believd the city was so dysfunctional she declared it bankrupt) the city died but residents kept their eyes covered and jammed their fingers in their ears hoping for the best while those with the "I's gots to get mine" looted the city. Anyone with brains moved out of Bridgepport bc of outrageous TAX hikes on the only two liveable neighborhoods in the city, The North End and Black Rock. Can you imagine paying 10+k a year in property taxes for inner city teachers unions to hear gunshots a mile away in hoodyville!?!?!?! So sad bc a once great city was destroyed as I'm sure others have been around the country.
ReplyDeleteBUT IT IS FOR THE CHILDERN. THIS IS THERE MANTRA. THERE WILL BE NO FREE CHILDREN JUST DEPENDENTS. NOT FREE EVER AGAIN. STAND UP OR LOSE IT. GET DIRTY AND KICK SOME INTELECTUAL ASS AND DON"T BE POLICITALLY CORRECT. BE RIGHT. AND YOU WILL WIN.
ReplyDeleteProfessor Hussein Obama needs to be impeached, and fast!
ReplyDeletepeople been getting on the rating agencies to be more vigilant. how's that working for connecticut? you guys can borrow chris christie on weekends once he has the property tax cap in place down here.
ReplyDeleteStates and nations which have Liberal Socialist Policies are going bankrupt everywhere.
ReplyDeleteIt has always been common sense that such policies don't and never will work.
Such policies in the long run cause more harm to the very poor they claim they represent.
Stay the hell out of the South. Roll Tide.
ReplyDeleteDon't get stuck on stupid...don't just vote out a person because they're incumbent. Do your homework...look at the voting record...have they tried to stop or block the BS? Don't throw the baby out with the bath water just because a candidate has enough money to run a slick ad. Do your homework and find out for yourself who the best candidate would be. Google is a great tool...read more than one link and see who posted the info. It's way past time to be smart about this. I live in CA, and believe me the best man running against Barbara Boxer hasn't even been able to get his name out there..and he'd be great. His name is Chuck DeVore if there are any Californians on this site...he just doesn't have the $$ that the others have.
ReplyDeleteVOTE ALL THE BUMS OUT
ReplyDeleteYour lack of knowledge of how global financial markets operate is frightening. What's even more frightening is that you THINK you understand how they work and believe that you have better solutions to the massive liquidity crises we're facing that of some of the leading financial minds in the world. Regardless of what conservative talk radio wants you to believe, these are extremely complex issues that are not as simple as "You can't spend yourself out of debt." If we follow the policies proscribed by the right and don't spend heavily (requiring us to assume debt) then things would most likely get substantially worse. Obama (and Bush at the end of his term) chose the lesser of two evils. Make no mistake about it, our situation isn't great, but it's certainly better than it would have been without massive capital infusions and government spending.
ReplyDeleteIf I give my money away to people who don't have it coming, I'll be broke, too.
ReplyDeleteHere in California, a guy named Torlakson will be the next Schools Superintendent. I know this from the volume of the radio ads for the guy. The Teachers Union is buying the job for him and they will own him. Business as usual, corrupt as ever.
Now are you commuinst traitor pig morons in Connecticut going to vote in Blumenthal?
ReplyDeleteFor a bunch of "smart" folks you sure are dumb communist traitor pig rats.
The problem with all the government spending is that it is just increasing government. It is a liability. If the debt had been to create private sector jobs it might have worked but to throw it down the government rat hole that creates nothing will not work.
ReplyDeletePerhaps we can cede Connecticut to China in trade for the entire USA's balance owed. Rather like a reverse Alaska deal. The labor would be much closer to home that way and I'm sure the Chinese would promise not to invade from there. This concept is not so foreign from the export of all of our industries to foreign shores and the funzies known as NAFTA.
ReplyDeleteIt's a brave new world, so let's get it on. Plus, think of the swell dim sum.
Send Barney Frank to sit on the hole. Plenty of room in there for more oil.
ReplyDeleteThe operative word here is "WAS" the wealthiest state. Just remember Dodd knows best. Liberals got us here and now you get to find your own way home. But always remember that Dodd is exempt from Obamacare, recessions, and legal liability for destroying the state and the nation.
ReplyDeleteBust...the...unions!!!
ReplyDeleteFire all nonessential state employees, cut off everyone who's been on food stamp or subsidized housing programs for over six months. Problem solved.
ReplyDeleteAmerica and its people, I LOVE YOU. I love you because you 'get it.' You keep your politicians accountable, and you are continually motivated politically to do so.
ReplyDeleteReading the many brilliant common sense comments here makes me realize why my country, Canada, is pathetic: the people just don't care. Rather, they've been brainwashed by the government to not care because the government "knows best!" Your country will recover, and you will boot that bum out of the White House. America is the purest and greatest country on earth and I have nothing but respect and admiration for its people!
I guess CT will now do what every liberal state does when they get into uncontrollable debt...RAISE TAXES!! How original. LOSERS!
ReplyDeleteThe Definition of Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. That being said CT has continually had a Democratic majority for nearly every year of the last 20 years. But somehow we expect things to change? CT taxes and a bumbling state congress are directly linked with handout happy indigents and a haughty upper class that 'knows whats best' = a recipe for disaster! Goodbye my fellow middle-class CT residents I'll leave before I get forced into being part of a supermajority lower middleclass handout happy puke. My fellow citizens make me sick that we've allowed this to happen. LET ME BE PERFECTLY CLEAR THERE IS ONE OPTION. ELECT FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE PEOPLE TO PUBLIC OFFICE -OR GO GREEK!
ReplyDelete-disgruntled CT resident
Moma, are we there yet.
ReplyDeleteWow- we are the wealthiest- doesn't feel like it- $55 grand is poverty line round here. Of course- now that I've been unemployed for the better part of 3 years- I'd grab at that salary now- can't really live on it- but I'd take it. Illegals and osama obama are destroying the country and world- aren't you dopes so happy you voted for him?
ReplyDeleteCommunist rats in CT gone broke. Big surprise. Just like other communist states like CA and NY.
ReplyDeleteCommunism = no gun, no money, no jobs and god and worship of god and respect for natural laws are banned.
Georgia has a balance budget requirement. We are hurting but they are forced to cut until the budget is equal. Hello Washington and CT.
ReplyDelete(CHINA owns us now. Who could they possibly be borrowing from?)
ReplyDeleteGet rid of unions. Get rid of welfare and entitlements to illegals and those who don't pay into the system or taxes. Privatize schools. Lower taxes. Right-to-work states only!
THESE ARE PROVEN TO BE PROSPERITY BUILDERS. Vote.
BTW, Chris Christie in New Jersey will be proven a phony. Spending like crazy in Trenton. If you don't live here, you wouldn't know.
america gets what it deserves, doesn't it? the insane spending & entitlements, the ridiculous corruption and yet you people keep electing these piles of sh*t? so now you are ruled by psychotic anti-american bastards and your children are on the path to slavery. who's fault is that?
ReplyDeleteThank you Bush and the GOP for spending us in to oblivion.
ReplyDeletePerhaps Connecticut isn't as stupid as appearances might suggest. Perhaps they expect hyperinflation to erase all debts.
ReplyDeleteWho ever said raise taxes to spread the wealth around. you are a damn idiot. I bet you make 15k a year and dont pay taxes anyways
ReplyDeleteBernie Sanders is from the Socialist State of Vermont.
ReplyDeleteIf people do not get involved in politics and vote in not only national elections but in their state and local elections, this will continue.
Wake up, educate yourselves and VOTE the status quo out.
MOSLER 2010 -
ReplyDeleteNew England liberals never learn...bunches of old liberals moving south in search for cheaper housing, lower taxes and warmer weather...vote the same way they did back in New England. Evidently, these wise old liberals haven't figured out what the problem is up there...so they bring their politics to North Carolina etc and set about financially destroying their new homes with the same liberal policies...morons.
ReplyDeleteOne simple solution... Bus millions of illegal aliens from Arizona, Texas, and other southwest states to CONNECTICUT! Just think of all the wonderful economic benefits this will produce for your state and local governments, as well as the cultural benefits for the fine people in Connecticut. We can all watch as they turn CT into a third world sh**hole, bankrupting all your hospitals, schools, and social services. The Democrats will rejoice in thier new voter numbers to make sure they will forever get re-elected, and your Organizer-In-Chief can remain in power indefinately, like say.. Castro or Chaves. If each home in CT will adopt one or two illegal families, we can make this happen. Sign up today.
ReplyDeleteWouldnt you know someone would get on here and BLAME BUSH. You would think the Liberals could at least think up another reason for their total failure. Bunch of jerks. Running this country into the ground and still have to try to blame Bush!!
ReplyDeleteFirst off,we are not all rich elitists, not by a long shot. The majority of citizens are authoritarian leftists, plain and simple,we cannot out vote stupid. Those of us who had to stay here because of employment are now stuck in our retirement. Houses, even modestly priced ones, are not selling and once again the working drones will be punished because of our personal fiscal responsibility. How did this great nation become a place where the takers are pampered and the productive are punished. A pox on them all. Keep your powder dry.
ReplyDeleteaddendum: anonymous is the only way this idiotic site allows me to post. Too bad.
We the people of The United States of America do not owe people from other countries of the world a job in our country. Especially if they are guilty of 'breaking and entering'. If our politicians wish to give money away to these folks let us start with their pay and their assets before they dip into mine.
ReplyDeleteJim
What is it going to take, my fellow Americans, for our elected officials to slow/stop spending? We don't want to do this anymore.
ReplyDeleteHere's what's happened in Connecticut and some other now-blue states: The takers outnumber the makers at the polls. If this happens to enough states, we're done - put the fork away.
ReplyDeleteIt would have helped if 60 years ago a band of vigilantes had systematically destroyed every TV tower in the land.
Fight for a Full Republic. Only when you have a full Republic you'll be free from this insanity.
ReplyDeleteAn half Republic like yours protects you from Government, but doesn't protect your property, work and wealth from Government. Only when the Constitution cuts what State and Fed can take from people be it in taxes or debt America will be a land of freedom. Put in Constitution that no one can be taxed/or indebted more than 20% at least.
Let's dump this president and all of the liberal spending idiots in wahington. pelosi has her own private jet, they could care less about this country, thry have theirs and screw everyone else.
ReplyDeleteSad and angry in NJ
Isn't there a Christie running in CT/
ReplyDeleteConnecticut's woes started when we got Lowell Weicker as governor. Weicker was a Republican U.S. senator, but so liberal that conservatives helped Democrats throw him out of office in 1988, electing Joe Lieberman to that seat. Weicker got his revenge on the state two years later when running as an independent he won election to governor. After leading the voters to believe that he would not accept an income tax (the state had none up to that time), which Democratic legislatures had repeatedly tried to pass, he promptly signed one into law as soon as he got into office. Democrats pushing for an income tax had promised it would eliminate most of the state sales tax, but (surprise surprise) it did no such thing. There was only a trivial reduction in sales tax, so with what became a fairly stiff income tax, state revenues increased enormously. The state just spent the extra money and kept on doing so, which is why now with many jobs lost and income revenues way down, the state is in bad shape financially. Another contributing factor is that our mostly Democrat legislature has always been very union-friendly, with the result that the state has become increasingly hostile to industries -- many of which have either left the state or gone bust. In my small city there used to be several factories, some just small companies and others large corporations. Now there are none. Factory buildings here are either deserted, torn down, or converted into apartment houses.
ReplyDelete"Want to fix the economy?
ReplyDeleteGet off oil."
Where to start...? First of all, there's no way to "get off oil" without completely trashing the current economy even further. How are we going to replace the transportation energy alone?
Perhaps you meant "get off foreign oil" which is a more reasonable position (but I doubt it 'cause you sound like a brainless liberal, frankly). In that case we'd have to bite the bullet and open ANWR, increase offshore drilling, and, most importantly, start large-scale coal gassification in states like Montana. Liquid fuel may be made from coal at a cost of around $50/barrel, and there's over a hundred year supply of it in Montana alone. Of course, environmentalists will fight this tooth and nail... If we found the will to do this, could probably get to the point where the only foreign oil purchased would come from Canada and Mexico fairly quickly - in just a few years. You know, if we viewed it as actually "urgent".
The other realistic solution to our long-term energy needs is an expansion of our nuclear plants. No air pollution, and plenty of energy. It's entirely possible to cleanly dispose of the waste at the mid-Pacific subduction zone if we have the will to do it.
Solar will also come along as prices come down on solar panels and fabric. Cheap electricity (solar+nuclear) coupled with plug in hybrids would finally start to make a dent in oil consumption. Perhaps long-haul trucking could be converted to natural gas, we have plentiful supplies of that. However, these changes are going to take at least a decade to implement, so in the short term "getting off oil" is not a fix.
I hope this cleared things up for you a bit.
Connecticutt: Call Chris Christie of NJ, he'll show you how to put your house in order.
ReplyDeleteAnd now for the lighter side... :-D
ReplyDelete"YOU "PEOPLE" ARE SO IGNORANT THAT YPU CAN BARELY ADD +, HENCE YPOUR UNABILITY TO BALANCE A BUDGET. SHAME ON YOU, YOU IDIOTS"
"UNABILITY" is a word? Who knew? Someone looks like an idiot all right...
"This shows the dumming down of the masses in US. How will we ever get US back to Number 1 with these tea baggers folks or brainless religious fanatics holding the agenda?"
Yep, it's that "dumming" down. Wow, that sure speaks for itself. Very classy with the tired "tea bagger" slur as well.
As to the "stupid Republican" meme, let's not forget that GWB (for all his faults) did hold a MBA from Hahvahd (phonetically spelled for those who don't know how to pronounce it snobbily, er, correctly). He was the first President to hold a MBA.
And why is it, do you suppose, that 0(bama) continues to withhold all of his school records and work? I seriously doubt it's because he doesn't want folks to be intimidated by his intelligence, wit and wisdom...
America just doesn't get it yet. Obama WANTS this type of economic problem. When he says "redistribute the wealth" he's talking GLOBALLY not nationally. If you make over 35K a year YOU are in the top 7% of wage earners in the WORLD. THINK how far down YOU need to be dragged to be an "average" world citizen. Economic equality on a personal level means the end of Capitalism and America exceptionalism.
ReplyDeleteThe voters in Connecticut could actually vote for Schiff and do us all a favor, but they probably will vote for one of the lying political weasels instead.
ReplyDeleteIn theory, if a pint of liberal blood was to replace the dollar as our national currency.....
ReplyDeleteI moved out of CT and my living standard improved 300%. Let's see, real estate taxes are half, gasoline is $.30 per gallon cheaper, insurance is 15% cheaper, Heating the house is cheaper (Gas now instead of Oil). No long distance shopping is required. What do I miss? Oh those ice storms in the fall and winter.
ReplyDeleteI moved from Connecticut to Indiana in 2002 and never looked back. It was like getting an instant raise once I was out of the high cost of living. I'll never forget the goofy emissions testing required for new cars there, and apartments for $900+/mo and you still had to go to the laundromat.!!! Rest in peace, CT.
ReplyDeleteTwo points:
ReplyDelete(1) Only a coward writes and only a coward reads anonymous materials;
(2) The planned destruction of the domestic American economy has existed since the 1960s and is progressing on the schedule arranged by socialists in this country and Europe.
National Socialism was the arrangement in place by Adolph Hitler and Benito Mussolini but even they knew one had to destroy the existing society before socialsim could be enforced.
Bsenito and Adolph lost the battle but won the war? Every nation in Europe is socialist; every major nation in Euoope 'enjoys' the EURO unit of account; every nation in Europe is bankrupt. Bring everyone and everything down to the lowest level of achievement and let fellow socialist be in control is what we are experiencing. Many people seem to rejoice in it. DISASTER! ! !
STOP Washington politicians and do it now!
Thomas J. Coyne, Ph.D.,

"Connecticut subsidizes those cheap southern states. Like Arizona. CT gets 60 cents in Federal spending for every $1.00 a citizen pays in income tax.
ReplyDeleteArizona gets $1.25 for every $1.00 a citizen pays in income tax."
This comparison is rather slanted in two ways. First of all, most of the states that receive higher Federal funds than their income tax contributes are sparsely populated. It doesn't cost less to build or maintain a freeway in a sparsely populated state. Therefore, public works inflate the "Federal dollar per income tax dollar" statistic in sparsely populated states.
Second, some of those states have low per-capita incomes. People pay the same Federal Income Tax rates in all states, so it is as fair as fair can be, no? (Actually no, the Fair Tax is a much better idea and actually "fair".)
I note that Texas, one of the most successful conservative states in many ways, pays more Federal funds than it receives...
Finally...
"Here's some more info on how Republican-leaning states mooch off of their betters:"
Ah, nothing like the smell of an elitist liberal burning in the morning... It's the smell of VICTORY! :-)
Obama and his marxists want this to happen, and much worse. There is opportunity in crisis for them, and it only means to further their power over the helpless people that gladly turned over their freedom, liberty and responsibility for their own lives for handouts.
ReplyDeleteThe One is still the Messiah.
ReplyDeleteHe will protect us!
I agree with the comment that CT is filled with elitists and moochers...however they are not on opposite sides - they live right next to each other. That's the wierd thing about that state. aside from greenwich and new caanan, everyone is mixed together. One reason I could never live there. Hard working people should be surrounded by hard working people.
ReplyDeleteIllegal aliens, 85% of them from MEXICO (the most corrupt and morally bankrupt country in the western hemisphere) have invaded to stake a claim on your nation (welfare, food stamps, subsidized housing, medical care, all forms of crime, etc.) Care to put a price, estimate on these unnecessary costs/benefits? Well, I would bet just about every states deficit could be whipped out, every budget balanced if these low life blood suckers were all escorted to the US/MEX border with a swift boot kick in the back side, as they exit the doors of course.
ReplyDeleteI'm here in San Diego, CA sadly watching NERO fiddle away as ROME burns to the ground.
I LOVE MY COUNTRY!
America, are you going to continue to stand idly by while thieves (invading barbarians) rape, pillage and raise everything we've worked for, everything we believe in, to the ground. pls wake up while we have time to correct the unending doom.
Wealthiest, maybe. Smartest? Definitely not.
ReplyDeleteAll you people in the Northeast that have created this problem please stay in your home state and correct the issues. Here in Texas we are tired of seeing the CT, NY, MA, license plates of the people moving here looking for a job. We have enough of a problem trying to not lose our jobs to the illegals that are invading the country.
ReplyDeleteI think Connecticut needs to put together a panel of the brightest minds to look at how to cut costs, then another panel to oversee that panel which consults with an advisory board directed by a Whitehouse Czar. That should solve it.
ReplyDeleteI guess they are going to have to stop giving freebees to Blacks and illegals.
ReplyDeleteJason the Fed
In a country of debt laden individuals, should states be any different?? Look at the debt rate for consumers in the "wealthy states" as compared to "poor states" then look at the state government spending habits. You'll notice a correlation.
ReplyDeletesome funny shyte here . . . I like the comment about the "New York liberals who have moved their families to the 'country' ". .
ReplyDeleteI'll do you one better. I've talking to neighbors where I live and heard about a proposed "ungodly-like-sum-of-money" . .something lik 70 million - you could built the whole town over for that . . . for fixing up one of the schools in my town. Like so many Californians who moved north to Seattle back in the 70's and 80's, they made a big stink about "all the things they needed where they lived only to find out that once they got what they wanted they didn't like the end result (higher taxes), so they moved north to screw up the next state, or in my case, the next town. They get all their agendas put in place, only to find out THEY have to pay for all those "priveleges" and then they move out of the town only to push the same damn agenda in the next town - they are like a virus !
What did you expect from Marxists and Socialists who are now destroying our great Country?
ReplyDeleteIt will be up the us (citizens), to turn it around in November. This will be our last chance until 2012. Repeal the health care, and let it be a do nothing Congress until we get Obama out of there in 2012. This has been good for America, the sleeping giant has woken up.
ReplyDeleteCut Taxes for businesses and entrepreuners? Why, so they can only keep the money for themselves to invest in overseas homes, foreign tax havens and offshore bank accounts? Trickle down economics is the biggest lie ever perpetuated. It does not work because the money doesn't trickle down into the US economy. Bush cut taxes for businesses and entrepreneurs for 8 years so you would think we would all be living in paradise now. Are we in paradise? NO!! The solution is to cut taxes for the hard working middle class Americans who will actually SPEND the money in this country and boost our American economy. Buying American is the solution! Stop the money from going overseas and making China, among other foreign countries, prosper. Cutting taxes for the rich will only raise the deficit more for no gain. Tax the rich more, they can afford it.
ReplyDeleteActually, Anonymous, we have Chris Dodd and Joe Lieberman. Vermont has Sanders. Take care :)
ReplyDeleteOk people, SOCIAL SECURITY IS NOT A HANDOUT. THE GOVERNMENT PUT A GUN TO OUR HEADS AND STOLE THE MONEY FROM OUR PAYCHECKS SAYING IT WAS OUR RETIREMENT.
ReplyDeleteGET A GRIP YOU MORONS.
LABOR UNIONS AND GOVERNMENT SPENDING ARE THE PROBLEM. GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTH CARE IS THE PROBLEM. DEMONCRATS ARE THE PROBLEM. WHEN IT IS SOMEONE ELSE'S MONEY THEY DON'T CARE, SPEND SPEND SPEND.
THIS COUNTRY WILL GO BANKRUPT AND MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WILL DIE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS A FREAKING CLUE.
Big Surprise! It's a blue State
ReplyDeleteThe knuckleheaded Marxists will continue to blame Bush, tax cuts, and capitalism.
ReplyDeleteNo amount of evidence, no facts, no level of destruction will ever get to them acknowledge the clear fact that their pathetic, bankrupting, Ponzi-scheming philosophy is poisonous and always doomed to fail.
If California, Michigan, NJ, NY, CT, Greece and every bankrupt inner city and bloated unionized bankrupt company doesn't shake them out of their perverted delusions, nothing can.
No, it simply means that they are willing and eager to live in a fascist dictatorship, with government controlling everything and telling people what to do and when.
These miscreants would rather live in a bankrupt society than accept a world where some do much better than others (ie, a free society).
The perverted Marxists DESERVE to live in a dictatorship -- unfortunately, they insist on taking us with them. Sorry, freaks, but we don't want to live in your freakazoid world. You'll learn this in November.
Love all the objective evidence the libs make with their ideas that dont work. Democratic lib States are the worst financially. Should we be shocked?
ReplyDeleteI lived in CT for 14 years but had to move because of a job loss (Thanks Pfizer). I liked CT and would have stayed but the problem with CT is that you HAVE to be highly paid just to live there, unless you're on welfare and live in one of the dreary Cities. There's no such thing as affordable housing in CT. Now, I can afford to work anywhere because my overhead is nil by comparison. Yet CT just keeps on taxing. Where's the money going?
ReplyDeleteIt might have some of the wealthiest people but the state is apparently broke if they have to borrow money to make ends meet. They need to stop spending beyond their means.
ReplyDeleteSilly people - we are headed by a Republican Governor, and you mental giants want to place blame squarely on Democrats? Yes, the same governor who signed rest stop restaurant leases with Subway for a $2,000,000 per year LOSS. Yup, those damned liberal elitists!
ReplyDeleteYes - CT, the wealthiest state per capita in the nation. Our wealthy a**es pay for the rest of you bohunks: For every $1.00 CT sends the Fed, we get $.69 back. Conversely, for every $1.00 MS sends the Fed, it gets $2.02 back
http://www.taxfoundation.org/taxdata/show/266.html.
Me thinks CT needs to start keeping it's own tax dollars instead of sending it to the rest of the freak show states who can't carry their own weight.
Oh, and Bernie Sanders is a Senator from Vermont, oh-bright-one.
We here in CT can thank our Democratically-controlled legislature for the mess we now find ourselves in. For the past 25 years, this tax-and-spend crowd has refused to cut spending and make necessary changes to the way the State does business. Once they taxed all the businesses to the point where they pulled up stakes and left, they borrowed their way into oblivion. And now the chickens come home to roost. And the stupid libs of this state will just vote these losers right back into office. Wish to hell I could talk my husband into moving south...
ReplyDeleteCT is bankrupt - but accounting gimicks are keeping the esteemed Htfd Courant from printing it.
ReplyDeleteCT also 'balanced' the budget...what passes for balanced here? Take Fed stimulus $ and allocat them to the budget - voila! Balanced!! Too bad the $ they counting on isn't happening...but in the face of that 'shortfall' will they cut spending? Nope.
You can't get a direct flight out of our airport (BDL) to anywhere USA (except airline hubs), BUT, there are at least 4 daily directs to San Juan. The airlines know where thier bread is buttered, and we're supplying the butter.
I live in this state and can't wait to get the hell out in two yrs. We had a billion plus budget surplus a few yrs ago and the Liberal legislature couldn't wait to spend it on new programs and services.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, CT Liberal - Jodi Rell is a RINO - and a gutless one at that.
ReplyDelete@effenmontero - you nailed it. The rich NYCites who want to be Lucy & Ricky and move to the country have totally messed us up. My small little rural town used to be lovely - when they ran out of money, worked stopped. Taxes were low, and life was fine. Then all the libs moved in and started screaming that the roads had to be paved, and the school was too old, and what do you mean we have to take our garbage to the transfer station? We want it picked up at the end of our driveway NOW! Yes, they are a virus - and unfortunately there's no effing vaccine...
I have no sympathy whatsoever for the people of Connecticut, or any other state, that keeps electing the people who will not balance their butdget or cut spending. Maybe some "new" politicians might be a good idea.
ReplyDeleteI think "Connecticut being the wealthiest state" is the news here.
ReplyDeleteSadly, we're following your footsteps towards bankruptcy in California. Cali once ranked the 5th largest global GDP, with the ability to be "almost" self sufficeient with respect to natural resources, the ability to feed it's people off the land and educate the masses. Today, we're a mere shell of our once prominent status and falling fast. Seriously, California has taken on 3rd world status. Roads collapsing under our tires, buildings crumbling before our eyes, an education system that is so over-inflated that it doesn't teach anymore and a welfare system that is so bloated that even the employed want to get on it. What's wrong with this picture? Tax revenues lower than expected...spend less than budgeted. It's such a simple equation, yet nobody in Sacramento or D.C. can see the forest for the trees. God help us all!
ReplyDeleteCrackheads can't help themselves. These people are no different. Be warn they will tantrum just like a crackhead if you cut them off. They'll threaten to close all the schools and jails (it's the only places that one can cut says the lying crackhead/politician)
ReplyDeleteTHIS STATE MAY BE THE WEALTHIEST BUT THE INHABITANTS SHOW NO POLITICAL INTELLIGENCE. THEY VOTED OVERWHELMINGLY FOR OBAMA AND ARE ABOUT TO ELECT A GUY WHO LIED ABOUT SERVING IN VIETNAM TO THE SENATE.
ReplyDeleteThe rich have theirs now it is up to the middle class to rise up and demand less big government, less big unions, and less big business, to big to fail but big enough to ask the little guys to bail them out while they lay off people and the top management receives multi-million dollar compensation packages with golden parachutes loaded with millions more.
ReplyDeleteThe President is bought and paid for. He spends his time on golf courses, at private concerts, and lives like the king of the world. He never ran a business. His buddies make sure his books sell and his wife has a six figure income from here Board of Directors gigs.
Does anyone know if there is a social organization that will help me move to Connecticut and get set up there? The winters are a lot colder so we would all need new clothes and a warm apartment. We have a car, but need gas money and only a few dollars for a couple of nights at a motel. We can leave most of our stuff here because it isn't paid for, but I need to take my boat. I can pull that with my truck. Who do I talk to in Conneticut to get put on the assistance roles, and do you know how much we can get. Sounds like Conneticut has a lot of money because they can borrow a lot of money. You don't have money when you can't borrow it.
ReplyDeleteWHO'S THE DAMN FOOL THAT KEEPS LENDING MONEY?
ReplyDeleteThis is not simply a democrat vs republican problem...but an issue of progressives on both sides (though mostly dems)purposely driving the country off the cliff. Notice Obama is simply Bush X4 when it comes to spending...Bush had many of the same tendencies fiscally though at a much slower pace. We need to vote all the progressives out now.
ReplyDeleteHow can you be the "Wealthiest State" with $1B in debt? Doesn't make sense.
ReplyDeleteSomebody blamed the Ct. governor because she signs the budget. You have no idea of the battle that takes place every year between the Rep. Governor and the Legislature!!! The dems in control of the Leg. REFUSE to entertain any cuts, any layoffs or anything that would mitigate the deficit. Until the public wakes up to what one party rule is doing to this state, we will continue to borrow and send the bill down the line to our children and grand kids. There are too many people benefitting withou paying(i.e. New Haven with a 14-year incumbent) I'm afraid it's going to take a complete collapse of our econmy before the voters wake up to what's been going on for years.
ReplyDeleteConneticut is the classic exaple of liberal hypoctrats! Snotty rich is Greenwich who ignore the poor in Bridgeport!
ReplyDeleteHopefully they will see The Obama Lite before it is too late!!!
Bush was smart he moved out! LOL!!!
Fantastic news...the quicker we break it, the faster we can come to terms and fix it.
ReplyDeleteA very interesting case study. For a lot of reasons many of the industrial jobs in CT have gone away but the displaced workers have stayed because the state has a "great" welfare system that could be paid for by all the folks working in NYC and other high profit centers. Now the state can not find the money to pay for the non workers.
ReplyDeleteThis disproves the liberal belief that more money solves problems. Here's the richest state in dire straits, yet many "poorer" states are in pretty good fiscal shape.
ReplyDeleteIt's all about realism and self-discipline, which have nothing to do with the amount of money you have.
Under Obama, we're headed for a financial meltdown. Our Boy Wonder actually thinks census worker jobs show a growing economy!
Our lousy politicians, empowered by a fiat currency and central bank, are taking us toward catastrophe.
Anyone who balances a check book in this USA knows what to do. The current politicians need to be replaced with people who have the backbone to stop the insane spending and reduce the size of government.
ReplyDeleteThis had better be a loan and not a bailout, as it is not right for fiscally responsible states to tighten their belts and do without while other states continue their irresponsible spending for their liberal feel good bull chit. I absolutely hate liberals as their intentions are good but their results is always devastating to the economy and to people's freedoms.
ReplyDeleteThe bad part about this stupid debt scam is we are o n the line for not only our state governments but our federal government too!
ReplyDeleteYay criminals, thanks so much state government for spending our money as fast as the feds ! don't think you are getting your pensions. We are taking them too!
Folks it is easy to point the finger and say it is the Democrats or Republicans. Actually, we have met the enemy and the enemy is us. Until the voters start demanding entitlement program cuts and balanced budgets, politicians will continue business as usual. Anybody up for the challenge?
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, seem to be running out of other peoples money...
ReplyDeletePlease tell the folks in our state of Tennessee (including two previous governors) who thought that Tennessee ought to have a state income tax. They told us that an income tax would 'protect' our state from economic downturns. They were wrong and Connecticut's situation adds evidence there of. Americans have come to depend on government for too much. Blue Darter
ReplyDeleteCredit agencies - what rubbish. The US, UK and most of Europe should be at FFF. Its a matter of time. The next 100 years will be the east and africa and parts of Europe like Germany/France. The rest and going to be living in built up poverty.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking to get out too - but the job and family are here. Easier to say than do. Real estate values are in the crapper, taxes are insane. LOTS of people sucking off the system, from social services to the over-bloated state system. I've hear 1 out of 6 people "work" for "the state". You can check their salaries at www.ctsunlight.org.
ReplyDeleteIt's insane. I'm telling my kids to move elsewhere and I'll follow when I can.
Is it November yet?
ReplyDeleteIt is impressive that I can read through so many complaints regarding spending without one specific proposal as to where to start cutting. The talk is cheap.
ReplyDeleteDon't make reference to programs and departments you think exist. US Citizens always overestimate the generosity of their government (http://www.americans-world.org/digest/overview/us_role/concerns.cfm.
Name a real program and a real department.
But given that sate workers earn more than private sector, on average, there seems to be room to cut.
I'm sure glad that the most financially responsible people were elected to control the money of the entire state of Connecticut, which actually belongs to the people who elected them!
ReplyDeleteOtherwise they would have had to throw another $44 million into the mix and ask for a BILLION dollars!
Whew! Dodged a bullet there!
> and let’s not forget the millions each month the state gets from the 2 largest casinos in the world Foxwoods & Mohegan Sun. Where is all this Money??? Where is this question by the leftwing biased partisan liberal LAMEstream media? Yet another reason they are failing! Because the liberals in the media are in lockstep with the liberals ruining this country
ReplyDeleteConnecticut needs help from Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and our super intelligent President Obama. He can bring his American Express Gold Card to Connecticut and pay for all of their shortfall
ReplyDeleteYeah, I guess the rich (working) should support the poor (nonworking) till we drop down to the lowest common denominator. Ya-LL keep working hard so you can support me :)

ReplyDeleteMiss me yet!
I used to live in CT and glad I got out. I don't know what happened to that state, but in the past decade it has become a liberal fiefedom - and to its detriment. All I can say is that you get what you ask for. Keep electing bleeding heart liberals who want to correct every social ill with other peoples money. Now moonbat Ned Lamont is running for Gov. and is leading in the polls. Things there will only get worse with a liberal Dem Governor in charge. Once again, you get what you ask for CT. As for me, I'll keep living out of state and keeping more of the money I earn by working.
ReplyDelete52% work either directly or indirectly for the government- 10% unemployed- what % on welfare? that leaves us working stiffs to pay the whole $13+ trillion in debt...how's that gonna work for everybody? Exactly what the liberals want, if we have to depend on them, they run the entire ball of wax. Only they will have big cars that burn up the earth...and multi-million dollar castles by the sea like algore. Course, he'll plant lots of trees and save the polar bears.
ReplyDeleteCt. Has run itself down the credit drain!
ReplyDeleteThis is the state where they have a liar Robert Bloomy running for Senator.
He was a self serving A.G. hanging out at all the beautiful private clubs rubbing his phony pedigree!
Hey, high school and college kids, when you are 48 t0 52 years old don't worry this debt will be paid off plus another $1.9 billion dollars in interest. Costing your generation $3.8 billion dollars.
ReplyDeleteThose who did it to you will be either dead, retired, and out of public office.
Welcome to the real world.
