Vicious Anti-Rand Paul Ad

Rand Paul is way ahead in the race for U.S. Senate in Kentucky, so the Democrats are in severe panic mode. As any one who has looked at the issues, and the views of the candidates, knows, Rand is a very strong libertarian. When elected he will be the most libertarian member of the Senate.

Yet, the Democrats are trying to portray him as stomping on people's rights and use a clip of a crowd member that has nothing to do with Paul's thinking. (Gawker calls the ad "vicious" ) Actually in real life, I would take this foot stomping once a year, if it meant lower taxes, a less intrusive TSA, SEC, FAA, FDA, FCC etc.

UPDATE: Posted in the comments. What really caused the "stomping" incident:

Sickening new lows they've sunk down to! She tried to assault Rand with her sign just before this happened too!

  2. Looked to me like she was just trying to show off her sign to Rand Paul, not that she was trying to assault him.

Either way, what I find comical about this video is if it was filmed in Iraq and the voices were in Arabic, many people in this country would have the following reaction, "Ugh, look at those uncivilized, tribalistic, EMOTIONAL people. They've been worked into a frenzy by their political leaders and are beyond reason."

Libertarian candidate for government? HA! Try "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds". What kind of individualist, independent thinker stands in a mob rhythmically chanting the name of their savior?

Sick. This country is hopeless-- this is NOT the path to freedom, people.

Btw, Wenzel, your reasoning in the post ("I would trade a foot stomping for less X") seems eerily similar to the socialists' ("I'd break a few of these eggs to make this wonderful omelette"). I think you're on slippery ground here. It'd be much more reasonable to say, "The socialists use force against us all day long, I don't see anything wrong with a little retaliatory violence." After all, this liberal activist chick was no peacenik libertarian-type herself, policy-wise. You want to advocate the use of force to impose your political will on others? Fine, but you might get curb stomped now and then.

The idea that we can effectively and honestly trade the curb-stompings of liberal activists for progress on policy goals, however... no, I don't like that thought process.

  3. The way I read this was that RW would personally endure such a stomping once per year for those benefits, not that he would be accepting of such an act against others. Am I being too charitable here?

    Also,
    "very strong libertarian"
False, even according to the man himself.

"...will be the most libertarian member of the Senate"
Undoubtedly true, and for that reason he might do some good.
