The Koch-Neocon Axis?

A very curious report is coming out of Politico.

A new organization has been formed to "to wage a well-funded assault on the Obama White House" using the model that the left-leaning Center for American Progress uses. At key positions in the new organization, the "Center for American Freedom," are two former employees of the neocon, Weekly Standard.

The chairman of CAF is Michael Goldfarb. Goldfarb is a former Weekly Standard writer who is now a partner in the lobbying firm Orion Strategies, where his clients include Charles and David Koch.

CAF is going to publish a new conservative online news site, the Washington Free Beacon, edited by Matthew Continetti. Continetti is also a former Weekly Standard writer.

Politico asked Goldfarb directly if the Koch brothers put money into CAF:
He declined to say whether they were among the donors to the Center for American Freedom. But the group’s birth is the latest chapter of an ongoing battle the Kochs and other wealthy conservatives have been engaged in for a generation. It was their money and encouragement that helped build a vital conserative infrastructure in the 1970s that CAP was somewhat belatedly founded to counter three decades later....A test run for CAF, Goldfarb said, was the Emergency Committee for Israel, which he also advised, and which waged a relentless guerrilla media campaign against the efforts of J Street — a national membership organization with a sizable Washington staff — to create a liberal counterweight in American Middle East policy.
If you will recall, the Emergency Committee launched the floperoozo ad campaign trying to paint Occupy Wall Street as anti-Semitic.

Even Paul Krugman went out of his way to smackdown the Emergency Committee.

Aaron Harison is the president of CAF. He was the executive director of Keep America Safe. KAS was founded by Liz Cheney, the daughter of Dick Cheney.

KAS should have really been called "24-Hour Warmongering". This is from their mission statement:
The mission of Keep America Safe is to provide information for concerned Americans about critical national security issues. Keep America Safe seeks to influence public policy by encouraging dialogue between American citizens and their elected representatives in order to produce legislation and executive action that enhances the national security of the United States.

The United States remains a nation at war. We face a growing threat from rogue regimes that seek or have already obtained nuclear weapons. America’s interests are challenged by an authoritarian China, a resurgent Russia, and dictators in our own hemisphere who ally themselves with our adversaries... Keep America Safe will make the case for an unapologetic approach to fighting terrorism around the world, for victory in the wars this country fights, for democracy and human rights, and for a strong American military that is needed in the dangerous world in which we live.
