  1. With the high suicide rate, you'd think "soldier" would be on the unhappy list.

Can't decide whether the TSA goons would be happy or sad. Happy that they just got to fondle my "resistance" as they call it (as in, "Sir, I'm going to move my hands up your pants until I meet resistance"). Or sad after the blast of verbal civil disobedience they get from me as they're fondling my "resistance."

  2. Software Quality Assurance Engineer is the worst job ever. Crazy hours, mind numbing repetitive testing, and deadlines that ultimately result in a lot of cut corners/crossing of fingers upon launch.

    1. That was my exact first thought as well. Unless you're the kind of person who just loves to break things and take massive shit from executives and programmers alike, I can't imagine loving that job.

    2. I'm also surprised that it pays so well, compared to "Software Engineer". It requires much lower skills. Ah, another effect of H1-B visas clogging the market with cheap Software Engineers. I was making that much as a Software Engineer in 1990 (in 1990 dollars, too).

  3. I read their criteria on the website, and the rankings make more sense to me. I'm a sales engineer, and it suits my personality just fine. I can't imagine spending my life in one office or a lab (or a warehouse for that matter!). Different personalities take to different jobs better. You want upward mobility? Start your own business or go to Wharton.
