Ron Paul Wins More Delegates: Romney Nomination In Doubt?

Iris Mack emails:
Two networks yesterday, CNBC and MSNBC, broadcast a little known fact – Dr. Ron Paul appears to be winning the Republican nomination for President.
After three more states locked in delegates to the GOP nominating convention – CO, MN and IA – indicators point to a brokered convention with a possible, even probable, Ron Paul victory.

Iris has more here.

  1. I am in complete AWE in how much the Paulistinians (my favorite monicker) have learned between the 2008 trial by fire and the 2012 campaign!!

Hey, maybe we ARE smarter than the enemy!!!

  2. This is really delusional thinking and just an attempt to get Ron Paul supporters to keep the money flowing into Jesse Benton's pocket.

Romney is the nominee, sadly Ron Paul ran an even worse campaign than 2008.

    2. Ron Paul can't win because he's one of the few politicians who don't suit the media's narrative. Romney has little to no chance in 2012. Obama has been a lousy president but Bush was a lousy president 2001-2004, yet he got reelected with better numbers than in 2000. Why? Because Americans are complacent sheep, occasionally waving a flag in order to feel a sense of purpose in life.
People who vote for Ron Paul are people willing to take action, standing up for what they believe in. There are too few such people left in America these days.

    3. Feeling a bit desperate? Wondering why no more than 200 people will show at a Romney event while Paul draws 10,000?
No, Romney has a fight on his hands. Sure, he'll have the 1142 delegates - but will they vote for him? They don't have to - they can simply vote 'Present' on the first vote and then they'll be unbound. Did YOU hang out for the election of delegates? Do YOU know whom they support? Are you certain? We've been VERY successful in being chosen as delegates - and half of us have NEVER openly supported Paul.

  3. After reading the article and talking with my father I don't believe this there is no numbers to back it up. I'll believe it when I see it but sadly I don't think Romney has anything to worry about.

  5. "Romney is the nominee, ..."

This exercise will show, one way or the other, what giant shams democracy and party politics are. Paul will either show that the party rules and procedures can be manipulated no matter what the primary results, or the Republican elites will break their own rules and resort to some sort of thuggery to get their way. Then the only question will be how much the media are in the tank for the elites by ignoring or whitewashing the controversy.

  9. The facts are that the Republican Party machine denied Ron Paul the early caucus victories in Iowa, Minnesota, and Colorado (also probably Nevada and Maine). This effectively stifled Ron Paul's momentum for following up those victories in the remaining states and instead established momentum for Romney based on falsified results. Ron Paul needs five state wins to get included in the convention. Romney will not have the "shut-out" delegate count of 1144 which will release all bound delegates to vote as they please during subsequent votes, at which time many delegates will move from their bound candidates to Ron Paul. The future is not certain for either Romney or Paul and anything can happen.

  10. All this venom from the comments above. The idea that people cannot spend their own "money" on whichever pursuit they choose is unamerican at best and tyrannical at worst. If some choose to support Paul it is their perogative.

I personally think news of his campaign's demise are greatly exaggerated. Likewise so is Romney's "unassailable" lead.

If anything this contest is not over and with the growing Paul/Santorum block forming the remaining contests will continue to be contested and won't be cakewalks for Romney. Texas will be the big test.

    2. They base their numbers on the Associated Press, who haven't update their delegate numbers to reflect the actual election of delegates. AP is notorious for having the least accurate delegate counts out there - they make an initial projection based on the non-binding straw polls, and then never update it to reflect the actual election results.

    1. When any government destroys its currency, it also fails politically and socially. Rome and the U.S. have a lot in common, not the least of which is widespread corruption and the preoccupation with gratuitous wars.
The Byzantine EMpire gets a lot of criticism from historians, but they are totally full of beans. Go to the National Archaeological Museum in Athens and look at the chronological display of Byzantine coins. When they saw that their economy was being flushed down the toilet, they switched back to a gold-based economy and became the only country to survive a middle age period.
In that exhibit you will see the progression from gold to silver to base metals and back to gold.
We need to follow that example if wee are to avoid a new middle age period, which began about a century ago. The indicators are all there for those who will study the many books and papers on the two previous middle age periods (ca.1220 B.C. and ca. 500 A.D.

When will you 'one cause' idiots learn that the desired result should be to remove Obama. That means facing reality, doing a little 'compromising'. 1. I disagree. Read the policy reccomendations of Romney and Rubio over the years. They are in the same boat as Obama who was in the same boat as George W Bush. All three are ok with wars supported by lies. All are ok witha growing government. All show unfamiliarity with the concept of "regulatory capture" and thus will always lead the middle classes directly into the waiting hands of crony/facists/socialist who want to continue the demise of individualism, private property rights, entrpeneurism and freemarkets in America.

If Romney is elected we will get big government again...and then when things go badly guess what wil be blamed by the mainstream media? "free markets"...I sw it happen with Reagan and Bush and don't want that to happen again.

Aren't you advocating abandoning all principle for the single purpose of replacing the ass in the chair of the West Wing - even though there is no discernable difference (other than skin pigment) between Bama and O'Romney? Why is your single cause acceptable while my single cause is dividing and demoralizing? Oh yeah, because my single cause is to get the voters of this country to think and that would destroy your single cause.

The only thing, the changes we need already are so big / sweeping, that probably not enough of the gov't and public will go along with what is needed, (so few understand enough) that everything is still going to crash (even if Paul got in) - so it is probably better if the Obama slime stay in there until after the crash - so they (not Paul) take the blame, and then have Paul or his successor come in, throw the shit out and straighten things up. 21. My husband is one of the national delegates from CO who will be going to Tampa for Ron Paul. The majority of RP delegates are "undeclared" at this point. What the media fails to mention (surprise surprise) is that there a hundreds of unpledged delegates. The majority if not all are for Paul. We have our primary in June where we'll be coming out for Paul. The whole system is rigged. The local GOP turds have done EVERYTHING they can to discount supporters of any candidate but Obamney. The Santorum folks knew it and were willing to work with us at our State assembly where we took half the delegates with their help.

The bigger issue at hand is we are getting constitutional supporters into the local political scene and want to move the party back towards the Constitution. To all you haters out there: Fuck You. What do you believe in? When are you going to quit criticizing RP supporters and get off your fat ass and do something instead of bitching and moaning about why doesn't someone do something? 29. WOW!!! All this and name-calling, will get us nowhere... Which,I imagine, is exactly what THEY want.. The problem isn't with "fixed elections", and the " paid off and/or repressed" media.. Or, at least, it doesn't lie with them, alone.. This entire atrocity began years and years ago and will, most likely, end likewise- because of nothing more than the sheer ignorance of the voters!!! I hate to think of the actual percent, of voters, who know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING of the declining dollar, or why; our deficit, how we got there; our politics in general... I could almost guarantee you that, the majority, do NOT even know that the FED isn't even a federal entity!! And, yet, they rush off to the poles every election, cast their vote, and all in the name of "their public and patriotic duties"... So, of course, our next president is usually elected out of 80% ignorance!! Just look at the case of Sarah Palin. Which, in my opinion, is the SINGLE MOST embarrassing, publicly humiliating spectacle, I have ever been forced to witness!! Yet, it is the PERFECT example of just how ignorant the average citizen is... To me? It calls into question the SANITY of, not only the would-be voter, but, John McCain himself!! And, if a senator would do something like that, what does that say about ALL the other men, assumedly, leading this country??? Other than, working on educating ourselves more, politically, my only advice would be, to all who are somehow STILL oblivious to the fact, DO NOT listen to and/or believe, ANYTHING you hear from the mainstream media(or, practically, any media, for that matter)!!!!! And, as for JP, it would have helped TREMENDOUSLY if you were to have run as an Independent.. Anything, but a Republican! I am sorry.. But, after what GB has put us through.... And, the Sarah Palin spectacle.... It is insulting to ask any, semi intelligent, American to vote Republican... I am TRYING to make this an exception.. But, I have an open mind, and a mind of my own... Most Americans, it's sad to say, DO NOT...

  32. The threat I am speaking of is from the average Republicans I speak with about RP. They always come out and misrepresent RP stand on foreign policy. They call him a kook and don't realize they are calling me one also. They would vote for a RINO like GWB or MITTENS in a minute as a lesser of two evils (EVIL). I don't think you need education Malina but the threat is real to me. If my own close friends cannot see the forest for the trees it threatens my children with slavery to the one (two sides) party system that exudes cooperation and moderation with the evil they vote for. I am aware that people are just brought up to vote for a Nixon or Obamy based on their parents belief system. The fact is the federal laviathen is only in power by the consent of the governed. If they choose to continue to abrogate their responsibility to obey the constitution they become illegitimate. Just because some guv official from top to bottom says something or tries to force an illegal law down our throats does not make the law enforceable. I have seen resistance come from many fronts in this battle. To answer your proposal that I or any person run for president or high office I would think you know that the people that are allowed to get that far are obviously hand picked by the elite. RP is the thorn in their sides and will challenge the very foundation of the two party system as we are seeing with his delegate wins in numerous states. The RP movement is a liberty movement. The young people are wide awake and assuming their role as the new Repub party leadership in many states. I know you wish to make your point but what good is it if it only devides us up. The GOP left us in the dust and you are right it has been going on for years and years. The only real way to win is to take the power back from the RINOS and revive the GOP. The system is established and the only way to compete is within it. I do not like the GOP any more than you but with a little effort on our part it could become what we as participants envision it to be. I do participate and help the RP campaign in my state as well as donate when I can. Just for the record I do not believe that stating the facts that have occurred in the last GOP administations qualifies as cynicism. If the GOP establishsment created the EPA, DEA, Fiat money no gold backing(nixon) patriot act, bailouts, 911, TSA, revenge wars to enrich haliburton (GWB) what was cynical about that.
I do enjoy watching the MSM, Est GOP and Mittens squirm as RP makes his way to the nomination.
