Speaking Roles for Rand and Ron Paul at the Republican National Convention?

Politico reports:
...a top Paul staffer shed more light Wednesday on the political calculus [on the timing of Rand's endorsement of Romney].

“From a practical matter you have to endorse the candidate before the convention. Romney is going to get the nomination no doubt about that at all, and so it behooves everyone to have Senator Paul endorse him before the convention,” James Milliman, Paul’s state director, told a Louisville Young Republicans meeting in the above video from Kentucky’s Insight Channel 2. “This could enable Senator Paul to have a prime speaking role at the convention and his dad to have a prime speaking role at the convention, so I think all those things factored in.”

  1. How does Ron get a slot without an endorsement?

    1. Rand said among other demands that I'll endorse you if my father and I get prime time speaking slots, that you support Audit the Fed, stop all foreign aid, bring home the troops, duh!

Rand plays the bad guy; Ron is the good guy!

  2. Ron Paul will get a speaking spot. If your name is on the ballot at the convention - you get a speaking spot just like other candidates on the ballot. As of now only 2 people have won 5 states to be on the ballot at the Tampa Convention. Mitt Romney and Ron Paul.

    1. Getting a speaking spot is not the same as getting a speaking spot at primetime, but whatever time Ron Paul speaks will be infinitely loud and exciting than when other speaks.

  3. No way Ron endorses Mitt.

  4. I hope I'm wrong, but I still don't think the deal with the devil was worth it.

If Romney loses, Rand would almost certainly have had the backing of the liberty movement in 2016. Now, he's going to have to fight to regain their trust. IMHO, the liberty movement is his only change of being president. Others will have to join in supporting Rand, but the liberty movement is what would give him enough support to get their attention.

Rand got snookered by the status quo, IMHO.

  5. Wow! $40 million for a speaking slot at a convention and 200 delegates. That's $200k per vote. That's gotta be some kind of record!!
