Look Who's Tweeting about 'Audit the Fed'

Mitt Romney tweets:
Ron Paul’s “Audit The Fed” bill is a reminder of his tireless efforts to promote sound money and a more transparent Federal Reserve.
I guess we all have to vote for him now. LOL.

  1. This may be one of the first instances where Romney(or a Twitter surrogate) has spoken about the Fed, and at least is giving some lip service to opening the doors to the joint, and 'sound money.'

Thank you Ron Paul for driving all of this.

Increasingly, the jig is up for the Fed, you can look at how harried and beat Bernanke now appears when he testifies. There is no way for a single body like it to manage the economy, money supply.

So what will 'they' come up with next after the Fed is put out to pasture?

    1. I think Romney made a comment during the Republican debates about how he liked Ron Paul's "End the Fed" book. Or maybe it was Rick Perry...oh well, same thing!

    2. I remember Rick Perry, when asked (I think) to say something that he learned from any of the other candidates, mentioned he was inspired by Ron Paul to read Currency Wars, by James Rickards. I'm pretty sure Romney, when the question came around to him said he was also inspired by Dr. Paul because he has the most ardent followers. And Dr. Paul said something like "I've learned that maybe others can change based on the comments I've heard tonight (basically those in response to his question)".

  2. Yeah but Romney doesn't mean that as a tribute to Ron Paul. He's just making a factually correct statement.

Those tireless efforts are for things that Romney would never support if elected.

  3. Once again I am confused about Romney's stance. He has said he is not in favor of an audit and is now implying (but notice how he is not stating) that he may be in favor of the audit. Really this is just a statement of fact by Romney with no indication of whether or not he supports such an audit. Typical Romney statement.

    1. Never played with an Etch-a-Sketch, huh?

Romney's holding it over his head and shaking it to reset it as I type....

  4. This type of talk won over most of Romney's supporters. It seems as though Ron Paul supporters continue to see through this nonsense. Once you understand Ron Paul, it's hard to put any stock into other lesser politicians.

    Nice try, though.

  5. He is not saying Audit the Fed, he is giving tributes to Ron Paul for making it an issue. But I suspect he does not want another QE before the election. He won't mind one after the election if he is elected. With the big debt we have, we cannot afford a rise in rates, Fed has to print and buy. I don't see any credible plan for deficit reduction. He wants to increase defense spending.

    1. Actually, he doesn't want to increase defense spending. Romney wants to keep defense spending at its current rate of zero.

Offense spending on the other hand...

  6. He'll obviously do anything to get our votes, but he doesn't realize that "blow" is just a figure of speech.

  7. If Romney wanted to co-opt Paul's supporters, he would have done so during the primary, but never made any such gestures.

It's possible this is a sincere "shout out" to Ron and Romney may have warmed to his position. All in all, it's a good thing. To have a major candidate make light of this is very good and unprecedented.

  8. I'm no fan of Romney, but I suspect he has a true admiration for Dr. Paul. In the debates, he was consistently observant whenever Dr. Paul was speaking, while the more Newtish candidates mocked and guffawed. I suspect he actually sees an example in Dr. Paul that he values, and would like to emulate if he could summon the courage. Perhaps Paul's example will give him the courage in the future, when it matters.

Not that those suspicions are enough for me to vote for him.

    1. Mittens SMIRKS at the idea of slashing fedgov spending; in fact, he plans to INCREASE military spending while moving toward a balanced budget (as if that were possible). He's a Keynesian and Big Gov't "conservative" in the mold of Bush & McCain. Kissinger is doing fund raisers for him---the globalists have approved Mitt as their back-up in case something should happen to BHO.

  9. The only reason - and I mean the ONLY reason - Romney is saying this is to swoon the Ron Paul supporters into voting for him (Romney). This is nothing but a cheap carnival barker trick to entice the millions of 'Paulbots' to give their precious votes (precious to Romney, that is) so that he might have a pimp's chance in hell of beating a solid Obama voting block. Mr. I love Big Government, Banksters, and the Military Industrial complex (all of which funded his campaign) is going to turn on his own kind and actually support auditing the Fed? Gimme a freaking break!

  10. To hell with Romney. I'm still writing in Ron Paul.

  11. I'm still going to vote for Obama. I hate Romney and the GOP. I would vote for Stalin if it pissed off the neocons.
