A Father Supports His Communist Son

Originally posted by unknown a commenter at Nation State:
My stepson is 16. He posted on his FB that he is now a communist. He is just doing it because he knows it pisses me off. I acted like I didn't care and posted the following (below). Then I changed his password. He had no idea I knew his password. It is still there for all his friends to see. He is really pissed off. I took the door off his bedroom. He has no privacy now.
I took all his video games and stuff and set them up in the sun room for his 8 year old sister to use. Instead of giving him his weekly allowance, I split it up between him and his sisters. Then I took him down to Lucky's supermarket and made him apply for a job. They hired him the next day. But I told him he has to bring home his paycheck every Thursday so I can split it up amongst everybody. He is not very happy. His mother is backing me up 100%. His work load is almost unbearable for a 16 year old.
com·mu·nism (kmy-nzm) - NOUN: A theoretical economic system characterized by the collective ownership of property and by the organization of labor for the common advantage of all members.
... Garrett, since you into communism-I will support you. To keep things at home in the spirit of things, all of your possessions are now shared with your sisters. You will now have to share in the workload of chores at home. All of them.
Since your mother and I are Capitalists we are exempt. Since you are the only communist at home, you get to do ALL the chores.

  1. It makes me glad that my mom didn't remarry until I was out of the house. I can't imagine what horrible things her husband might have done to try and dissuade me from believing in capitalism.

  3. If you go to the website where that was posted, nearly all of them are in support of communism in some way.

And obviously, they cry foul that this is somehow 'not true communism' and acts as a validation of Marx's warnings!

    Incredible.

  4. The father is not enforcing communism, because he is not forcing his daughters and wife to work and share what used to be their belongings with the communist son.

This is all one way. Communism would at least have the son being given a share of the father's wealth, the mother's wealth, and the daughter's bedrooms.

    Ignorant father.

PS I am not a communist, I just understand it.

    1. When I read the post I immediately knew that there would be some moron posting a comment like yours.

    2. Nope. Communism is about brainwashing to peons into giving up their belongs and their lives to be slaves, so the leaders can be the slave owners without as many whips and whip wielders that would be required in a typical slave system. No communist leader died of starvation in the Soviet Union or China or Cambodia during the famines that starved to death millions of farmers in those countries.

What the father is doing is exactly correct. His not forcing communism on the mother and the sisters is simply because he does not wish to impose communism on the non-believers.

      George, get an education.

Communism contains no exemptions just because someone declares themselves exempt. If the son is communist, then this implies he not only wants to give, but receive from others as well.

Nope. Communism is brainwashing, yes. Communism in practise is some people gaining and some people losing, yes. But communist theory holds that there is not only giving, but receiving as well. The father is only enforcing the giving part.

What the father is doing is exactly correct. His not forcing communism on the mother and the sisters is simply because he does not wish to impose communism on the non-believers.

But then the son is not living in a communist household. Communists want to receive in addition to give.

    5. Communists don't believe in private property. Ergo, communists cannot claim they deserve any, REGARDLESS of whether others do or don't. They don't get to dictate what others believe in.

For the same reason, regardless of the fact that the large majority believes in state coersion, it is not an excuse for libertarians to believe in it also.

The father is teaching him a lesson. Values that you only believe in if everyone in the world complies are hopelessly bullshit. His son wants to be a communist? Let him be one in the REAL world.

    6. George,

The Communist "giving and receiving" is that of the slave plantation's "giving and receiving": according to the wishes of the Master! instead of the individual member's discrete wishes for him/herself (as in private property right). The father is doing exactly right: the son is giving (chores, outside income etc.) and receiving (food, clothing and shelter, etc.) exactly according the wishes of the Senior Comrade (the father himself) as how things would be in a communist society. The son should be grateful that he the junior comrade is receiving anything at all.

  6. I don't know, the father could have gone a little farther in creating a nuturing communist environment by giving his son a gun and telling him if he wants anything in the house he first must point it at the family members and threaten to use it.

  7. Aren't all 16 year olds communists?
It's the mental retards that stay that way and vote for Obama to steal for them.

  8. @George,

Well, what you're talking about (and what Marx talked about) was in fact slavery. Totalitarian system. I lived in the USSR, so I know it first hand.

So what this father did was correct. I mean there can be communists in a free society. They just have to be communists by themselves (and leave us out of it). So if this father's son wanted to be a communist, he should share his wealth and take up some chores. It wouldn't make sense to share other's wealth, since they aren't communists. If you get what I'm trying to say. Be a communist if you want to, but let me be a capitalist.

    1. No, what the father did was not communism as written by Marx. Marx did not want everyone to work and only give to others. He also wanted everyone to work and receive from others.

Communism is not tolerant of exclusion. It is necessarily imperialistic. It has to include the father and mother and two sisters, or else the son is not living in a communist household.

Let me reiterate that I am not a communist. It is disgusting, evil, and unproductive. But I insist that what the father is doing is not communism.

You all need to read what Marx actually wrote. You can't fight communism unless you first understand it. None of you seem to understand it. You're uneducated morons.

    2. George,

Why should the father subject the son's siblings to communism? They are not choosing to be a part of that system, as the son is choosing to proclaim himself a communist. The father is simply trying to relay a lesson.

All of us here understand that this is not an example of pure communism. Marx would seek to force it upon the whole family, and what I'm offended by is not the idea of sharing/receiving, but of force itself.

    3. It isn't about there being communISM. It's about making his son be a communIST.

His son knows there's no communISM, yet it doesn't stop him from proclaiming to be a communIST NOW; not when the world is perfectly "communistic". This is utterly pointless unless he is willing to walk the walk.

It's like saying you're a pacifist, but ONLY if everyone else is too.

It doesn't even matter if the father is applying "true communism" for the simple reason that no actual communist has ever applied "true communism" in the sense you interpret it. You're expecting the father to apply a version of that doctrine that self-described communists even can't and haven't.

The REAL world version of communism looks exactly like the father is applying. The "Everyone's equal, but some are more equal than others" version.

    4. Just in case you did not know, even Marx gave up his own -ism after reading Austrian subjective value theory. Marx' entire theory is based on Ricardian labor theory of value, which essentially assumes all knowledge being known. Obviously, omniscience does not exist in the real world . . . value is subjective due to imperfection of knowledge and subjective preference . . . which means there is no "surplus value of labor." That's why Marx never published his 2nd volume of Das Kapital.

Marx' utopia is indeed achieved when one dies: "from each his ability" (nothing) "and to each his desire" (nothing)
That is indeed the End State utopia: Death! Communism is indeed eventually achieved: when every one dies. To that end state goal, all the mass murders by the soviet, Chinese communist and Cambodian communist leaders were indeed carrying out what they promised! They did not lie about accelearate their societies towards Communism (Death). Even the communist flag is composed of Reaper, Axe and Blood! The idiot followers just did not know what they were buying into. LOL

    5. The father is practicing communism as it has been practiced in each and every country it has gained a foothold. If you don't understand that then you have much to learn. I'd take a long look in the mirror before calling others uneducated morons.

    6. Awesome. Let's just get down to calling names. Very mature of you!

Where are you from? Were you born in the U.S.S.R. as I was? Did you live in that system? I doubt. Yeah, the Soviet Union wasn't a perfect Communist country, except between 1918-1921 - years known as War Communism. What a great society.. with people burning their houses to stay warm. Eating rats or whatever they could get their hands on. Wow.

But all I wanted to say was that communism should be voluntary. Karl Marx was a totalitarian dictator, as he assumed everyone wanted to live in a communist society. As I said in my previous comment, technically there can be communists in a free society. A family can be a communist... as long as they do it in their own property and by themselves. If it doesn't work, it's their problem. Others shouldn't be forced to co-operate in order to make somebody else's system work. That's slavery!

Freedom is the answer, not communism. There can be communists, Buddhist monks, etc in a free society. Do you really think there can be Buddhist monks in a communist society? Some people who don't work, but still need some food and a shelter? I highly doubt.

So please stop accusing me of not understanding communism. I've read Marx (unfortunately), but in this case I'm looking at it from a freedom supporter's view of point. You can't force me to participate in whatever YOU believe in. Period.

  9. The dad is right. Until his stepson realizes that his "belief system" is fundamentally flawed the kid should be forced into hard labor. Good for the dad.
