The Jesse Benton Approach to Ugly Politics

On speculation that film actress Ashley Judd may run against Jesse Benton client Senator Mitch McConell in 2014.

Politico reports Benton responded this way:

“It’s going to sting,” Jesse Benton, McConnell’s campaign manager, warned to any candidates considering a run. “We’re going to make sure that you don’t come out with your nose clean. We’re going to drive your negatives up and very aggressively and publicly litigate your record before the citizens of Kentucky.”

“This is not a free run to prime yourself for future office in ’15,” said Benton, who declined to comment on Judd specifically.

Don't you just love that principled when on the issues, Benton approach?

Bottom line: It's clear that Benton is about power and doesn't care one bit about liberty or getting the liberty message out.

    1. Ron Paul could have pulled the plug on Jesse any time. The fact that he didn't showed that RP had a massive blind spot when it came to his own family.

    2. I agree anon, but let's be honest...many of us would probably suffer from that issue as well and even further his granddaughter is still married to the man so it's not like Ron Paul could even come out and say "I made a mistake"...talk about uncomfortable "holiday" get togethers, right? lol

It's really not like he has to say it anyway...it's obvious to most people that were supporters of Ron Paul.

  4. Tom Woods has a good writeup about Benton:

  5. Jesse Benton torpedoed Ron Paul’s campaign; now let’s hope he can do likewise for Mitch McConnell.

  6. Jesse Benton knows how to win, which is why McConell hired him. As for being libertarian, Jesse knows alot about freedom, he just doesn't pander to the know-it-all so-called liberty people who turn on their own at the first site of indifference. As for Tom Woods... awesome on Economics and History... Zero experience running campaigns and zero political skills.

    3. Jesse Benton knows how to win. That's why Ron Paul lost.

Don't you just love the "logic" of the fauxbertarians?
They say the darnedest things while trying to justify their attachments to the political system.

    4. The message was gaining traction and stadiums were filling up to see Dr. Paul and benton comes out and says we are not contesting Tx and Ca i.e. throwing Dr. Paul over the cliff.

      he knows how to win.

      he beat Dr. Paul.

  7. Ashey Judd's politics is absolutely horrible. If she would like to be domineering, there are plenty of men who would welcome that in private life. She's a beauty.

I can't say the same for Jesse.

    1. She seems like a good looking Elizabeth Warren, but when elected she'll probably have the spine of an Al Franken.

  8. Gary Franchi is also getting some heat for his mismanagement of the Ron Paul Revolution PAC which spent 83 percent of its $1.2 million total fundraising haul on administrative costs and not on campaign activities.

  10. I don't know much about Judd's politics, but I hope she runs and stomps the holy hell out of McConnell. And with this fat leech latched on to his campaign, there's definitely a chance of that happening. Which must mean that Mitch is fully as stupid as he looks. Or maybe he just can't resist those big, soft and cuddly types who'll do *anything* for a little slice of power pie . . .

Anyway, go, Jesse! Go for the "win," you glorious porcine bastard!

    1. Ashley Judd is to the left of Hillary Clinton.

Which may be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on the issue.

  11. Yikes! Its sounds like Wenzel just endorsed Judd.

  12. I wouldn't mind McConnell losing, but Jesse's just doing his job. I don't see what the problem is here. Anything that increases libertarian influence in the GOP is fine by me. Let's plant our people at every level of the party, from campaign staff to congressional aids to public office... then spring our trap.
