Attempted Gun Burglary Tied to Newspaper Publishing Government List of Gun owners

New York State Senator Glenn Ball released a statement that says in part:
Today Senator Greg Ball (Patterson – R, C, I) announced that a burglary has been reported on Davis Ave. in White Plains, New York that evidently ties into The Journal News gun maps. It is reported that the burglar used The Journal News’ interactive gun map to target a home included on the map. Luckily the gun was locked up and no one was hurt.

“The Journal News has placed the lives of these folks at risk by creating a virtual shopping list for criminals and nut jobs. If the connection is proven, this is further proof that these maps are not only an invasion of privacy but that they present a clear and present danger to law-abiding, private citizens. Former convicts have already testified to the usefulness of the asinine Journal News ‘gun maps’ yet the reckless editors are evidently willing to roll the dice, gambling with the lives of innocent local homeowners,” said Senator Greg Ball.

Tomorrow, Senator Ball will be publicly unveiling three separate pieces of legislation, all with bipartisan support, among them (S2132), to protect the privacy rights of ordinary citizens; including: law enforcement personnel, victims of domestic violence and private citizens. Let it be clear however, that under Ball’s legislation that has garnered bipartisan kudos and support, law enforcement and all related agencies would continue to have full access to permit information.

It is fine that Ball recognizes that lists of gun owners can result in danger to those gun owners by way of individual criminals, but it is clear that Ball does not recognize that it is governments that evolve into totalitarian states, where lists of gun owners become most dangerous. Hitler and Stalin both used gun control AND gun registration in their totalitarian efforts that resulted in tens of millions dead. Government should never know which individuals own guns, how many guns they own and what kind. It is a very important check against this:

Stalin's work in the gun controlled Soviet Union.

Hitler's work in gun controlled Germany.

  1. Can someone explain to me the logic of a burglar targeting a home where he knows they have a gun? Wouldn't it make more sense to target unarmed homes?

    1. If a felon were desiring a gun, but had no legal means to procure one, it would be logical for him to do surveillance on a home that he was certain contained guns. Once the occupants have left, the criminal has a chance of stealing the gun. He could then sell it or use it to do a murder, with all attempts to trace the weapon leading back to the registered owner. This seems logical to me. Incidentally, I've read a few accounts of police observing that criminals rarely use either holsters or gun-safes, so both criminals and police are often surprised when they encounter such things.

  2. I propose a ban on newspapers with a capacity of more than 10 idiots per readership. The potential to do so much damage so quickly is appalling. Also, a ban on newspapers that use scary black type. If they weren't intended to kill reason, they wouldn't look like that. Or just ban all assault papers, period. That would go a long way to reducing the incidence of idiot violence.

  3. When a foreign country wages war on another country and captures the government, all registration lists are then in their hands, the result is the strengthening of an occupation.

How is a gun registration list Not counter to national security and Wikileaks is?

  4. We should launch a massive petition and email campaign to all companies who advertise with that paper to put the pressure on them to stop advertising.

  5. http://jpfo.org/filegen-a-m/deathgc.htm#chart

This is the best chart yet from the Jews for the Preservation of Firearms showing all of the genocide that followed in nation after nation after adopting "common sense" gun laws like registration and heavy regulation.

  6. So is the homeowner going to file a lawsuit against the newspaper?
