  1. The signs have pointed to this for months. Rand Paul will be presented as the reincarnation of (the legend of) Reagan:

  2. Do you hate this idea, Mr. Wenzel?

  3. Whatever. He's no Ron Paul.

  4. Ok, I'll admit that I was one of those people who was cautiously optimistic about Rand Paul and hoping that he had some devious plan where he'd incrementally reduce the size of government.

To Mr. Wenzel and Mr. Rossini, I say simply: touché.

  5. Apparently the whole wailing wall routine got him the nod of approval. The timing was impeccable.

  6. he'll be great...as a scratching post/sacrificial lamb for the democratic candiddate to beat up on ,ie not much experience in foreign affairs, crazy tea party candidate wanting to destroy blue collar workers, middle class, women, blacks, gays etc etc ... meanwhile the real candidate, his extramarital affair forgotten somewhat, coasts along unattacked.
But Christ help us if this is the way elections are going with candidates battling it out years out from an election.

  7. Which would be better for liberty, President Rand or President Marco Rubio?

Too bad the answer is less clear than we had hoped. I'm no longer enthusiastic about Rand and would not give him money but would be very tempted to vote for him, cause, well, it might be a step in the right direction, however small.

    1. Young Mr Rubio's chances will die with Castro.

    2. Marco Rubio. At least he wouldn't tarnish libertarianism and is open to everyone about his neo-conservatism. Rand calls himself a libertarian when he's really just another fake Israel-first teo-con, just like his buddies DeMint, Lee and Cruz.

    3. President Hillary would be best for liberty. Do you think 50 petitions for secession would have been created by a Romney victory last election?

    4. Marco Rubio would be best, since people would not link libertarianism to his foul, decrepit policies.

Rand Paul will not bring you liberty, but he would damage what libertarianism stands for, possibly beyond repair.
Try having that debate where you keep trying to explain that what Rand Paul does as a president has nothing to do with libertarianism, when you voted for him.

    5. I don't think either would be especially great for liberty

  8. His 17% flat tax should go swimmingly if he makes it to the general.

Nothing like supporting the "libertarianism hates the poor" meme.

  9. Do you really believe that the system of Washington central planning and destruction currently in place will actually still exist in 2016?

    1. I don't, but I've seen how these monsters can keep the plates spinning far longer than I thought they could.

  10. Rand may have won over the Republican establishment and appeased the fears of the neocons (or at least some of the prominent ones like Jennifer Rubin), but what really he needs to do now is address his critics--people like the proprietor of this website--who see him either as a lukewarm libertarian and/or sellout of his father's legacy. To us hardcore libertarians, what is Rand's case for us supporting his candidacy?

  11. I hope Ron is still in tremendous health in 2016 to make another run and challenge Rand... :)

It will be an interesting four years, to see what exactly is left of America when 2016 comes around. I simply don't think it's possible to not have a debt crisis/currency crisis in the next 4 years.

  12. He would be the best candidate this country has had in 50 years.

  13. Do people still believe that their votes count?

  14. Eric Boling stutters and stammers on tv whenever I see him on Foxnews. I can't believe someone who is such a poor speaker has a job on tv, but as long as he spouts neo-con bullshit and says stuff like Ron Paul "blames america first" and "freedom fries" nonsense, then he has a job with those crooks.

  15. Rand Paul is the Ron Burgundy of the Liberty Movement, vacuous, vain, and void of all original thought. His greatest desire is too fool the American people into thinking that his Jheri Curl locks, Corn Sugar smirk, and accent make him genuine and folksy like Ronald Reagan. The problem with that is Ronny believed half of what he said, and his acting ability took care of the rest. Rand Paul could not act as an understudy in an elementary school Thanksgiving Pageant.

  16. Rand Paul is not a libertarian. He's said as much himself. I don't understand why everyone thinks he's a turn coat -- just b/c his father is a libertarian doesn't mean his son is. Don't like him because of his policies, fine. But don't like him b/c he's a turn coat doesn't make sense.

  17. Anyone who can bat down the epa & the greenies and build the pipeline would have the country up & running in 3 months.
