Conservatives are used to being The Republican Party's whipping boy. They've been duped by the party so many times, that it can now be comfortably called a tradition.
Tell conservatives what they want to hear and you've got their vote. Make sure to use words like "free enterprise", "limited government", and a few quotes from "The Founders" and you've got conservatives hook, line, and sinker.
After you win the election, you proceed to trample every freedom in sight. Welfare....War...all of it to the max. You make the Democrats look like a bunch of tightwad peaceniks.
Looking to build on this strategy, the Republican Party wants to bring in some fresh meat.
The DailyCaller reports:
Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus is courting the libertarian-leaning Ron Paul wing of the Republican Party, saying, “We would be fools not to welcome in the liberty movement in this party.” ...Ok...Priebus used some code words...and even threw in the name of a "Founder".
“I want to reach out,” Priebus responded. “The fact of the matter is we’re not going to grow our party by closing doors.”
...“everyone’s welcomed, especially people who love and believe in liberty, freedom, the Bill of Rights, James Madison.”
The line has been cast into the sea.
If you consider yourself a libertarian, I urge you not to bite down on the bait, no matter how enticing it can look.
Liberty will not come about by "mixing it up" with Tyranny.
If you want to push the message of liberty in the right direction, then grab the wheel with both hands, and drive the ideas home. This is about the spread of ideas, not winning elections.
The Priebuses are there to peel you away from your convictions; to get you to compromise and take one hand off the wheel...then the other.
The inevitable result? Disaster!
You put yourself in the same class as conservatives...an impotent, but loyal voter.
Republicans are on the hunt, looking for the weak libertarians....Don't bite the hook.
