Ron Paul Surprise Coming That Will Make Glenn Beck Chew His Diet Coke Cans

Lew Rockwell writes:
Now the neocon warmonger and police statist is pretending to be a libertarian, but Ron Paulians aren't fooled. Nor will anyone else be. Oh, and Glenn, there is an RP surprise coming for you that will make you chew your Diet Coke cans.

  3. I would greatly appreciate some clarification to the position against Glenn Beck. This is not a pessimistic inquiry, because I align myself with Austrian economics and Glenn Beck. Although they certainly hold independent views, I see no great deviation in principles. The Austrian perspective of liberty is probably a great deal more in depth and rigorous than Glenn has time to lament, but labeling Glenn as "fake" escapes my imagination. Again, I am not disrespecting or trying to pick a fight with anybody. I am truly curious why Glenn would be labeled "fake" when it comes to libertarianism. Please, I would appreciate the most in depth reply possible; attempt a valiant effort to relieve my strong views on the defense of Glenn Beck. But please, do so in a respectful, moderate tone, because this side of the political spectrum should be able to dive into deep conversation without blasting one another with condescending rhetoric which results in less and less of a following from possible dissenters of the left.

    1. Nate,

The primary guiding principle of Libertarians is "Non-Aggression". Beck is a war monger neo-con.
      Get it?

    3. Glenn Beck is a Liberacean, not a libertarian. He pretends to care about liberty but really it's a lot of crying and worshipping of our pagan, pro-state Founders, anyone in the military, and he thinks Liberals are our problem instead of the state.

He's an imposter trying to co-opt the brand. He is a bad taste to be spit out of our mouths.

Beck is punk ass psuedo libertarian/conservative. He is more a neo con than anything else. As an additional reference please see his support and promotion of the lie of Abraham Lincoln (if you don't know what I am talking about search this website for a review of the lincoln movie).

    5. Glenn Beck is still a worshipper of the state.

He attacked the only libertarian running for presidency, for not being sufficiently antagonistic to Iran, and not being sufficiently nice to Israel.
This is typical antagonistic foreign policy neocon-stuff.

He has nice things to say about one of the worst presidents in history: Abraham Lincoln.

Apparently, and i myself actually missed that, Beck also said that Mitt Romney would be a modern day George Washington.

Glenn Beck, if he is sincere at all (which i heavily doubt), is the type of libertarian that truly does not seem to understand the core principles of the philosophy. At most, in old days he would have been called a "small government conservative" (and i stress "at most"). But just because those don't seem to exist anymore, doesn't make one a libertarian.

    6. Look at the hostility and hatred Beck had for Paul in 2007 and 2011 during the primaries when he was a real threat. In 2008, after the election was over, he apologized and admitted he was wrong for laughing at Paul and trashing him over the Fed, gold, the police state, etc. Then when Paul was a huge threat to win Iowa and NH, he resumed his attacks and said Ron Paul wanted to "give" a nuke to Iran.

    3. So did Judge Napolitano, and so do John Stossel and Ben Swann.

Working for Fox does not make one a statist, even though Fox is a statist network.

  7. Yea, my in-laws like Beck. They are also neo cons though, so there ya go.

I like the way you posed your question, Nate, and wish all discussions were handled in this manner. Thanks, hope your question is answered, I think anon @ 10:08 / 8:18 answered it the best.

  8. For all his huff and puff, Glenn Beck never really says anything. He is impossible to nail down on any issue, but the circumstantial evidence of his views is pretty horrifying. Here http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/33524/ he (sort of) bemoans the presidents "surge" (escalation of war) as too small. He calls for the issuance of war bonds. Bemoans the lack of ROTC in schools. Equates the military empire with security and freedom. He discusses the national debt without a word on the bankrupting effects of empire (a sign that someone is in no way serious about combatting government spending). And he gets some troop worship in there too. I just think he is a media whore, a kind of baboon. I dont appreciate any misguided philosophical associations with such people. Glen Beck is welcome to all those in the liberty movement silly enough to fall for him. I would urge his followers who do fancy themselves libertarians to challenge him on these points consistently. There is no squaring the military empire with the principle of non agresssion...

  9. So where is this Ron Paul surprise that is going to make Glenn Beck chew his diet coke cans?

  10. Beck is a leocon. HE worships the state, and worst of all, Lincoln. I'm surprised he hasn't dug up the corpse and made tearful love to it.

    1. Don't worry. He will erect a 20 foot bronze statue of Lincoln in the middle of the town square in that new community he's planning on building.
