Conservatives are outraged that "the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has awarded $1.5 million to study biological and social factors for why 'three-quarters' of lesbians are obese and why gay males are not, calling it an issue of “high public-health significance." I am outraged as well, but two things should also be mentioned. First, crazy things like this were funded under Bush as well, but we didn't hear too much about them. And second, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that so many conservatives supported (and continue to support) have prevented many women from having a chance to become fat and/or a lesbian. It has prevented them from doing those things or anything else because it has resulted in their senseless death. I am speaking of female U.S. soldiers and female Iraqis killed by U.S. troops.
