Harry Browne and Persistence

I have mentioned before that the first book, How You Can Profit from the Coming Devaluation, written by the great financial adviser and libertarian, Harry Browne, was my introduction to Austrian economics.

I always knew that Lew Rockwell edited the book, what I didn't know until last night was that Lew also acquired the book for the publisher, Arlington House.

I'm still at the Mises Institute and Lew told me he read the first chapter and knew that he wanted the book. The book became a New York Times best seller and Harry Browne went on to have a very successful career as a writer with many other best sellers.

But, here is a bit of fascinating backstory that Lew revealed to me last night. Harry Browne told Lew that he had submitted his book to over 60 publishers---all of whom rejected the book, before Lew acquired it for Arlington House.
