Robert Allbritton, publisher of Washington politics website Politico, plans to charge subscription fees of about $1,000 a year for a high-end version of newly acquired media and politics blog Capital New York, reports Bloomberg.
“The plan is to take what they already do and put it on steroids,” Jim VandeHei, Politico’s co-founder and executive editor said in an interview. “Media, City Hall, and politics and policy on the state level -- we’re not going to be spending money or time outside those three categories.”
According to Bloomberg, VandeHei sees Capital charging about $99 per month or $1,000 a year for a subscription to a higher-end service.
Early indications are that Jeff Bezos is thinking about pay caves for part of his new purchase, The Washington Post. Pay walls might not be gone, they may be back with reinforced concrete. Take that anti-IPers
What does a paywall have to do with "anti-IPers"? If a company wants to use a paywall they are free to do so. Are there "anti-IPers" who advocate for the State to put a stop to such a thing? Not that I know of.

To echo Mare, it's not anti-IP, it's just a bad business model in most cases.

But when it comes to general news, there are SO many outlets that a paywall is just silly if you get nothing special with your money.
