Silk Road Founder Ross Ulbricht Attempting to Cut Deal With the Feds

This is not good news for anyone who worked closely with Ulbricht when he was operating Silk Road. If this guy was willing to hire hit men to take out threats, he sure as hell is the type that will flip and start talking to the Feds if he thinks it will cut down his prison time.

Reuters reports:
Ulbricht's lawyer, Joshua Dratel, has been discussing a possible plea deal with prosecutors, according to court filings. Ulbricht is also under federal indictment in Baltimore, Maryland, in a case relating to a murder-for-hire plot.

On December 6, Assistant U.S. Attorney Serrin Turner asked U.S. Magistrate Judge James Francis for a 30-day extension of the deadline to file an indictment, saying that he and Dratel had spoken in October and November about a possible resolution of the case and planned to continue talking.

The judge granted the request, which was not opposed by Ulbricht.

  1. Maybe he has already started snitching based on the Silk Road moderators arrested post the other day.

Absolutely not true. Just because you would try to kill someone who was threatening you and a bunch of your friends does not mean you'd rat out your friends!

  3. Take it from a former Federal inmate:

The feds are more interested in seizing money and valuables than they are in pursuing any "real" criminals like murderers and child molesters.

They want the money. They know they only got a part of it-- not even half. They want the money.

Want to hear a funny story? They day I got busted, I laid down on a concrete floor in my holding cell to see and hear what was going on on the other side of the steel door. I witnessed a DEA agent having a hissy fit and going ballistic because they busted me in a rental car and that I only had $35 dollars in cash on me.

Guess I didn't fit the traditional "drug dealer" stereotype...

They had nothing to seize...And that, in the end, is all they care about.
