Class-Action Suit Filed Against Christie

Six New Jerseyans caught in the George Washington Bridge traffic jams, caused by NJ Gov Chris Christie operatives, have filed a class-action suit against  Christie, saying he took away their liberty, reports UPI.

The class-action complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in Newark, says the six people who live in Fort Lee and nearby towns were "deprived of life, liberty and property for several hours" due to roadblocks thrown up near the bridge from Sept. 9 to Sept. 13, attorney Rosemarie Arnold said.

The lawsuit calls the alleged scheme a "conspiracy" and "willful, wanton, arbitrary and egregious official misconduct," the Record of Hackensack reported.

The plaintiffs seek unspecified damages on the grounds the roadblocks violated their constitutional rights to due process and freedom of movement.

Named as defendants besides Christie are Bridget Kelly, who Christie fired Thursday, David Wildstein, former Port Authority official Bill Baroni, the Port Authority itself and the state of New Jersey

  1. What is this, some kind of joke? I’m "deprived of life, liberty and property…” not merely “several hours” by these con-men, but 24X7; I’ve been a victim of "willful, wanton, arbitrary and egregious official misconduct” from the day I was born.

Where is THAT class-action lawsuit? I’m ready to sign up.

    1. You've were not denied due process as defined by the Supreme Court. The lawsuit is for a violation of due process.

    2. That's right, Jerry. We've been robbed of our natural rights through the govenment's self-approved due process, which makes it ok.

  2. Why is it coming off as the mayor's the victim when it was the population? And, what kind of retaliation is it when it's against the people of that town? Then again, it wasn't just people of that town that were targeted but people who were crossing the bridge, which could be people that don't live there. There was no negative political fallout for the mayor so what was the point? Really, the mayor was incompetent.

Where's the Clinton's in all this? You know they have to be in here or some associated help either before or after for the "leak".

I have to agree with WSJ on this. When compared to the IRS and Tea Party incident, the Dems have nothing to say. Then, again, I would go a step further and comparing to bombing weddings and spying, etc. the whole bridge incident is nothing. Not making excuses for the governor, especially, if he did it, but this is all political bs.

  3. Since when was the left concerned with things like freedom and liberty? The irony of this being made into a serious case of political abuse of power is laughable given how many other far more severe abuses go on almost unnoticed by the media. Can't blame the Dems for going after this one, if this is all you got.

    1. What makes you think the plaintiffs are liberals? Perhaps they are libertarians. There is nothing in the post to suggest the plaintiffs are liberals.

  5. A proposal to Robert Wenzel: Allow Jerry Wolfgang to keep posting here ONLY if you responds to those that respond to him. This hit-and-run trolling is getting old.

  6. Yes, of course, when it's Chris Christie it's "typical politician."

When it's Ron Paul, it's not him, it's "Ron Paul, Inc."
