Joe Biden Defends Pope Francis On Economics; Claims Free Market Critic of the Pope Is Sinning

BuzzFeed reports:
Vice President Biden went out of his way at a speech to the United Auto Workers union Wednesday to take on one of Pope Francis’ strongest critics.

“A couple weeks ago Ken Langone, who I don’t know, a billionaire founder of Home Depot, predicted that the pope — Pope Francis’ critique of income inequity will be, quote, ‘a ‘hurdle’ for very wealthy Catholic donors, who seem to think hurt feelings trump the teachings of the Bible,” Biden said, referring to a December interview with the Home Depot founder.

Langone claimed to CNBC that one potential major donor to a cathedral restoration project was concerned about Pope Francis’ economic rhetoric about capitalist economies.

“I’ve told the cardinal, ‘Your Eminence, this is one more hurdle I hope we don’t have to deal with. You want to be careful about generalities. Rich people in one country don’t act the same as rich people in another country,’ ” Langone said he told Cardinal Timothy Dolan of the donor.

Biden appeared amazed by the comments as a Democrat pushing the Obama administration’s income equality message. As the most prominent Catholic on the president’s team, Biden seemed to be personally offended by the comments.

“As practicing Catholic, bless me, Father, for he has sinned,” Biden said. He paused. “I mean, come on. Come on! What are we talking about today?”
Joe Biden, vice president of the Empire, on sinning, now that's atrip.

  1. Biden, if course, ignores the Catholic church's teachings on moral issues (which it has far more authority than economic issues) such as abortion and gay marriage.

    1. No, he does not ignore them. He is not female so he can't get an abortion. He is not a homosexual so he is not going to marry another man. He follows the church on those issues.

  2. Given that Mr. Biden is involved in the largest criminal enterprise in the history of the world, maybe he should refrain from lecturing others about sin.

    1. Of course secular govt is a sin. Are you a Christian Reconstructionist like Ron Paul?

    2. The secularism about it isn't the sin, troll.

The government part about it is the sin. The part that produced rape, pillage, kidnapping, grand larceny, slavery and murder

    3. The best medicine for the JWs of the world is to politely ignore them. He enjoys knowing that he can yank your chain. Simply hit the page down button when you see his name.

  3. I mean, come on. Come on! Biden is a modest man, who lives a simple life, fully in keeping with the teachings of Christ. He steadfastly and devoutly renounces all the trappings of luxury and privilege which might otherwise make it easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for him to enter God's kingdom.

    1. Christ doesn't require anyone to lead a simple life. Look at Ron Paul's life. He became very wealthy as a Congressman and he's a Christian Reconstructionist who believes a woman should be stoned to death for lying about her virginity. He's worth many millions now. He went to DC in the late 70s totally broke. He was driving some jalopy around DC. Now he's loaded. All doing God's work spreading the word of liberty and freedom.

This is my last visit to EPJ. This kind of nonsense from this idiot should be banned and why Wenzel lets it through I'll never know. Jerry, you win.

  6. Biden, You're a politician. By definition that makes you the most sinful bastard on the planet. I don't need some hypocritical fuckhead like you preaching to me thank you.

  7. We need a New Deal Pope.

New Deal as in the Pope sticks to matters of faith, and not subjects outside his field of expertise. I don't see the Pope daring to give lectures of physics or mathematics, so he should stay out of economics too.

    1. The Catholic church has been involved in economics far longer than the US Government. At one time they were essentially the government of the governments. The Pope is just another populist doing what populists do, which is taking the position that appeals to the masses regardless of whether or not such position would actually produce the desired outcome. Remember, the Pope and Church's role is to spread Catholicism and NOT necessarily economic prosperity. My guess is that he thinks he has found a way to make the church relevant to the masses outside the prosperous regions of the world by pushing for redistribution from the wealthy nations to the poor ones.

What many that live in the US and Europe don't realize is that when the Pope talks about poverty and equality he is not taking up the case (not Obama and the Dems idea of inequality) for the middle class of these countries or for that matter their poor, he is taking up the case of the world's poor that mostly live outside of these areas. In other words, the middle class in the US and Europe are also part of "the rich" in his equation and not the poor. If you've ever traveled in some of the poorest countries in the world, you'll understand what real poverty is. That kind of poverty is non-existent in the US.

    2. Actually, you're wrong. He is talking about the United States and that's why the CEO of Home Depot was upset. The Pope is speaking about placing profits for a few above the conditions of the many. He wrote a rather long assessment of our capitalist economy, and like many other wise men, concluded it's evil because it creates winners and losers by making us all compete with each other instead of working for the common good. All the great thinkers have written about the abuses of communism on one end and capitalism on the other. What is funny, is we have the very rich manipulating the masses through media and telling us what we should think. Those who aren't brainwashed by our media, see it rather clearly. We are told we have Big Government, and that is pure nonsense. All of our regulatory bodies have been stripped bare by Oligarchs by the puppets they put into office (we elect into office). Bank fraud is rampant, chemical spills are commonplace because there are no EPA agents, etc., etc.

You should read what the pontiff writes - he's not some religious nut - he's a spiritual leader with great wisdom that cuts right through the propaganda. This scares many people including the mafia in Italy.

    3. I have read what the Pontiff has written pertaining to economics and it is all nonsense. His writings attack the capitalist system which has been responsible for relieving the suffering of the poor whenever tried and he promotes the very interventionist policies which are responsible for the suffering of today's poor. His writings lack any economic wisdom whatsoever.

Capitalism is the social order which is based on mutual cooperation. Interventionism, the economic system promoted by Pope Francis, is a social order which is necessarily based upon mutual conflict and the pitting of people against each other like animals.

The Pope's recommended policies do not differ from those viewed favorably by mainstream media outlets, leading politicians, or academia.

  8. Biden can't get an abortion. Only females can get pregnant and that means only females can get an abortion.
