BREAKING Rand Paul Introduces Stand with Israel Act of 2014

Rand Paul has just introduced the Stand with Israel Act of 2014. This is foreign meddling on steroids and, note well, Rand is not calling for ending foreign aid to Palestine, but about attaching conditions to such aid. There is zero about this to applaud from a libertarian perspective. Below is the complete statement, just released by the office of Rand Paul:

Sen. Paul Introduces Stand with Israel Act of 2014
Bill ends foreign aid to Palestinian government

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sen. Rand Paul today introduced the Stand with Israel Act of 2014. This legislation halts all U.S. aid to the Palestinian government until they agree to a ceasefire and recognize the right of Israel to exist. The bill, S. 2265, can be found HERE and below:

“Today, I introduced legislation to make all future aid to the Palestinian government conditional upon the new unity government putting itself on the record recognizing the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state and agreeing to a lasting peace."

TEXT:
Prohibition on Foreign Assistance.

(a) In General.  Except as provided under subsection (b) and notwithstanding any other provision of law, no amounts may be obligated or expended to provide any direct United States assistance, loan guarantee, or debt relief to the Palestinian Authority, or any affiliated governing entity or leadership organization.

(b) Exception.  The prohibition under subsection (a) shall have no effect for a fiscal year if the President certifies to Congress during that fiscal year that the Palestinian Authority has --
(1) Formally recognized the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state;
(2) Publicly recognized the state of Israel;
(3) Renounced terrorism;
(4) Purged all individuals with terrorist ties from security services;
(4) Terminated funding of anti-American and anti-Israel incitement;
(5) Publicly pledged to not engage in war with Israel; and
(6) Honored previous diplomatic agreements.”

  2. How about banning all aid to Israel until Congress recognizes the right of Iran to exist? Rand Paul is now nothing more than just another Senator from a State in which I have no ties. He doesn't exist for me. I don't think about him at all, neither for good nor for ill.

  3. At least we know in advance not to be totally disappointed by his actions when he is president. The apple appears to have fallen from the tree and then rolled three counties over.

  4. Anyone else VERY tired of this idol worship of Israel besides me (not to mention the US's entire foreign policy)?

    1. I recall a lecture by Rothbard on the War for Southern Independence in which he described the role of religion in politics during the lead-up to the war. Specifically, he said that Puritanical Yankee Protestants were largely responsible for whipping up the war fever in the northern States, as they believed that sin had to be stamped out in order for Christ to return. Slavery was a sin. Therefore, the sin (and the sinners) had to be wiped from the face of the earth in order to "purify" the world before the Second Coming.

      Today, the spiritual descendants of those butchers are all over the U.S., but ironically reside largely in the South and now they're babbling about the necessity of a "restored" Israel in order for Christ to return. Those people have no faith. They're nothing more than lunatic cultists (radical ideologues at best) posing as Christians.

      On the post itself, by the way, I can't say I'm surprised, but I'm still disgusted. Rand Paul has decided to shake hands with the devil - just like any other scumbag politician.

  5. So does honoring past diplomatic agreements extend to Israel and the Camp David agreement which requests that Israel return all lands occupied in 1967?

  6. I don't think Rand is corrupt. I just believe this is just more evidence that the US, and especially the republican party is Israel's personal bitch. Israel and it's interest groups in the US are so entrenched and well funded that the only solution is to go our separate ways. Close our embassy in Tel Aviv and break diplomatic relations with Israel.

    Complete and total separation is the only way we can ever have control over our foreign policy again. Death to Israel!

  7. Rand Paul was always corrupt. There were signs he was a sellout when he first started running for office.

  8. Whether he is corrupt or not is hard to answer but it certainly appears as though he is prostituting himself to get elected to the presidency.

    1. If he's not corrupt but just a fool then he's just as dangerous. Stupidity usually is.

  9. Disgusting is the word. I am from Kentucky and voted for this man. The previous comment I made about Israel being a ridiculous politically indefensible monstrosity has been removed. So let me repeat, Isreal has no physical borders and never has. It respects no sovereign around it and it's only pedigree is a warm gun. The fact that my 17th amendment senator is using the podium we gave him to speak truth to power is now using it to massage continued Israeli political hegemony is quite nauseating. Why can we not see a speech about the sovereignty and security of Kentucky Rand? Perhaps a bill or speech to remove the United States from the U.N. and NATO?
