  3. So much for the moral superiority of the Left, succinctly stated.

  4. I'm sure Jerry is furiously typing a response as to how stealing someone's wealth to "help" someone else is perfectly acceptable behavior. As long as the people doing the stealing are elected, what could go wrong?

    1. Didn't you know that people in government are super human!??!!? They have a different set of morals than us mere mortals.

      Statism is a religion.

    2. It completely amazes me that people STILL look to politicians (i.e. parasites) as some sort of saviors. Scandal after scandal hits these politicians and the fucking idiot masses STILL want to trust them. As if they're some sort of gods.

I wonder how many of these morons are going to need the sledgehammer smashed over their heads as hard as it can possibly be swung before they even realize they're being assaulted? Talk about stupid. LOL!

  5. Go see penn & teller if you are in Vegas. In addition to libertarian, they are funny and put on a good show.

  6. This is a beautiful quote. We need to keep pushing the fact that we have the moral high ground. I always thought that the worst thing about government welfare is that it kills the moral burden to help the poor in the average person, since they feel it's now the job of the government to take care of the poor. It also shifts any concerns for the poor from the general population to bureaucrats, is enforced coercively rather than being voluntary, is less efficient that private charity, sucks away money that would otherwise go into private charity, aims at keeping people in poverty rather than motivating them to improve their lot, and does not give people the option of how and where their money should go to help others.

Somehow, in the past 50 years, Progressives have completely controlled the narrative when it comes to the morality of political philosophy. I don't know if that means the Republicans are stupid, not thinking long-term-strategically enough, or something else.

Libertarians generally tell a good narrative about the immorality of the welfare state and taxation by gunpoint, but libertarians don't have the sizeable audience that Republicans do.

I wonder if it'd be possible to infiltrate a Republican organization merely to contribute more coherent articles and position statements against major Democratic initiatives. Not to actually support Republican candidates, merely to use their audience and platform to distribute higher quality and more articulate rhetoric about the dangers of (for example) Obamacare or business regulation.

  7. Penn just revealed in an interview he believes society needs police and courts so he's good but not perfect.

  8. Don't most libertarians believe in courts and policing of some sort? It's just a question of how they are paid and managed.

    1. It's a little more than that, because it's the philosophy behind that drives their existence(leaving aside the notion of who should run them for now).

If such a system was based on the NAP, focusing on property rights and self defense, you are right.

The problem is that under the current paradigm the courts and policing aren't focused on much in the way of either, just a little in regard to property rights really and they can't really defend anyone hardly at all and for the most part aren't big fans of self defense.

So what are they left with? Victimless crimes. Drug offenses, parking tickets(which they hand out on 'public' property), public drunkeness, etc. et al
