HOT Greenwald to Publish List of Americans NSA Spied On

Glenn Greenwald is to reveal names of US citizens targeted by their own government in what he promises will be the “biggest” revelation from nearly 2m classified files, reports Real Clear Politics.

RCP goes on:
Greenwald, who is promoting his book No Place to Hide and is trailed by a documentary crew wherever he goes, was speaking in a boutique hotel near Harvard, where he was to appear with Noam Chomsky, the octogenarian leftist academic.
“One of the big questions when it comes to domestic spying is, ‘Who have been the NSA’s specific targets?’," he said.

“Are they political critics and dissidents and activists? Are they genuinely people we’d regard as terrorists?

What are the metrics and calculations that go into choosing those targets and what is done with the surveillance that is conducted? Those are the kinds of questions that I want to still answer.”

Greenwald said the names would be published via The Intercept, a website funded by Pierre Omidyar, the billionaire founder and chairman of eBay. Greenwald left The Guardian, which published most of the Snowden revelations, last autumn to work for Omidyar.

“As with a fireworks show, you want to save your best for last,” Greenwald told GQ magazine. “The last one is the one where the sky is all covered in spectacular multicoloured hues.”

This could be big. It is what I have been calling for. Let's see what Greenwald is going to release.

  1. My prediction: this will fizzle out within 24 hours of its release.

  2. Greenwald is brilliant. He could have dumped everything all at once, but he knows that would just be forgotten in the midst of a endless news cycles. By continuing to drip this information over a year's time and save the best for last, he has kept this story alive and God only knows how bonkers the MSM will become after this is released.

    1. I've pretty much stopped paying attention to it precisely because the information is being released at a glacial pace. Whenever a new "revelation" comes across my feed, I'll look at it, yawn, and go back to doing whatever I was doing prior to that. I've reached the point where I just expect these things, so all these so-called revelations are pretty weak now. Is Greenwald brilliant? Meh, he's milking it. Is there more to Snowden then the American Hero™ he's being portrayed as (even in libertarian circles)? I think so. Will anything earth shattering really be revealed, ever? Doubtful.

    2. So, how would you release the information differently from Greenwald and what type of information would you consider "earth shattering"? Also, what is the "more to Snowden" information you're referring to?

    3. Thanks, Anonymous at 10:54.... I agree with your take 100%.
And, if I remember correctly, EPJ predicted this 'outcome' from the beginning.

    4. Frankly, I don't care what the government does; let the pagans have their pagan government. God will deal with them. Jesus is my King, and his laws always trump man's laws. So what should Greenwald have done differently? Beats me, nor do I care. I know of one thing that will definitely be earth-shattering: the return of the Lord. As for Snowden, the man oozes evil. This likely comes from years of rubbing shoulders with government types. He's not looking for massive reform, he just wants in.

Interesting. I think I've watched every minute of Snowden's public appearances, and he seems rational, knowledgeable, and passionate to me. I find it curious that you see evil "oozing" and are able to perform a complex analysis of his motivations without ever meeting him. What grounds do you have to believe his motivations are anything but what he has stated clearly and simply: to inform the world about the immense scope of secret NSA surveillance?

    6. I saw a lot of his type when I was working on government contracts. After over a decade of dealing with these people, you can smell them coming a mile away. Don't believe me? That's fine. Keep calling him a hero and see where that gets you. I won't be there to tell you I told you so, but I will warn you the end of the story involves a knife in your back (and the same is true for most of his other "liberty-loving" supporters).

  3. It's "earth shattering" that we live in a time when all voice/data is being recorded without any laws or people to protect us from the govt and its interests.

    1. That's what happens when people make government into a god. They want cradle to grave hand holding by mommy and daddy government? Then expect this type of shit.

    2. I don't think that's all that earth shattering. Even from a pretty early age, it amazed me that so many put so much trust in the security (or lack thereof) behind this technology. I'm not anti-technology, but I recognize it for what it often is: a double-edged sword. I never even had a Facebook account, since I often wondered what was so great about everyone knowing my business all the time.

...Wait, I lie. My ex-wife hounded me about starting a Facebook page that was promptly deleted after the divorce.

  4. he turned handler for snowy, now in handler hands, who cares what he says...

he is just the delivery mechanism to indoctrinate the populace in paying for a subscription to store hot mic, cam, and GPS data and the deed is nearly whole, alongside the decimation of the US IT industry. A show.
