Hillary Clinton's Favorite Books

Dylan Byers reports:
The omnipresent Hillary Clinton has added an interview with The New York Times Book Review to her list of media appearances, and she name checks quite a few authors and titles.

Books on her nightstand:
"The Goldfinch" by Donna Tartt
"Mom & Me & Mom" by Maya Angelou
"Missing You" by Harlan Coben.

The last great books she read:
"The Hare with Amber Eyes" by Edmund de Waal
"The Signature of All Things" by Elizabeth Gilber
"Citizens of London" by Lynne Olson
"A Suitable Boy" by Vikram Seth.

She says she'll read anything by Laura Hillenbrand, Walter Isaacson, Barbara Kingsolver, John le Carre, John Grisham, Hillary Mantel, Toni Morrison, Anna Quindlen and Alice Walker. She's embarassed to say she hasn't read Proust's "In Search Of Lost Time."

Oh, and: She says she has George W. Bush's "Decision Points" and Sen. John McCain's "Faith Of My Fathers" on her bookshelf.
Hillary and I live on two different planets. I have George W's  book, but that is it, as far as this list goes. I am familiar with some of the authors she mentions, but none of the books beyond Decision Points .-RW

  1. Pretty much Pulp/Chick Fiction with a Politically -correct Angelou thrown in.

People such as Clinton don't or can't appreciate good literature.

  2. Le Carre has written some of the best spy novels of all-time. His Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Hounarable Schoolboy, and Smiley's People are amazing!

  3. I would have to concur with her on Laura Hillenbrand. I've read Seabiscuit and Unbroken (both true stories) and they were excellent. I haven't read anything else on that list though...
