What McDonald's is Doing as the San Francisco Minimum Wage is Increased to the Highest the Land

A new higher minimum wage goes into effect in San Francisco today. The wage is $12.25 an hour, a minimum wage that will have the city joining Oakland as the locales with the nation's highest.

One way that firms, who employ many low-skilled employees, can counter a mandated high minimum wage is to automate and eliminate some of the expensive by law least productive employees.

It is probably, thus, far from a coincidence that the same week that the minimum wage is increased in San Francisco that a new McDonald's is open in the heart of the city with automated order taking stands.

A new  McDonald's at 441 Sutter St., San Francisco.
