Fed Rate Hike in March?

In my view, it is a very strong possibility,

Here is some mainstream thinking on the possibility:

Market Watch headline: Fed rate hike in March is in the cards after banner jobs report

From the accompanying story:

“Everything is pointing to a March hike,” said Aneta Markowska, chief U.S. economist at Societe Generale in New York.

Traders who bet on rate hikes using fed funds futures contracts now project greater-than-even odds of a March rate hike, according to CME FedWatch. Odds of a rate hike then had slipped below 50% chance earlier this week.

Wall Street Journal headline: Fed ‘probably on track’ to move in March

From the WSJ story:

Sal Guatieri, senior economist at BMO Capital Markets, said the central bank “is probably on track move again” at its March meeting. He added that “wall- to-wall strength in U.S. employment allays concerns about a slowing economy and should keep the Fed on track to tighten again before the spring.”
