Bank of England to Issue a New Polymer Note (With a Hint of Gold and Silver)

The Bank of England’s first polymer £5 note will be issued beginning September 13 2016.  The new Fiver’s includes a see-through window with a portrait of the Queen, and a detailed foil picture of the Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben) which curiously is in gold on the front of the note and silver on the back.

  1. Gold and silver certainly are popular colors for paper and base metal currencies. Why might that be? It is as if even those who have never touched real money possess some instinctive appreciation of its likeness.
