Hmmm, Brexit Campaigning Suspended For Second Day, Referendum Vote "In Limbo"

Following the murder of the British member of parliament, Jo Cox, an advocate for voting to stay in the European Union, by a nutjob Brexit supporter, campaigning over whether the U.K. should quit the EU was suspended for a second day today.

Events planned by the two main campaign groups were canceled, while publication of opinion polls and an International Monetary Fund report were delayed until the weekend as tributes were paid to Cox.

Prime Minister David Cameron, Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne and Bank of England Governor Mark Carney all canceled or shortened appearances on Thursday, while the polling company BMG said it would delay a referendum poll due to be published on Friday by 24 hours.

With polls indicating Brits favoring Brexit, Reuters comments, the murder "has thrown a June 23 referendum on European Union membership into limbo."

Coxwas shot and stabbed on Thursday by a man who witnesses said shouted "Britain first" in her own electoral district near Leeds in the county of West Yorkshire in northern England.

A 52-year-old man Thomas Mair, described by family members as having a history of mental illness, was arrested and police said a firearm was recovered.

  1. OMG - could the statists who favor Britain staying in the EU be more obvious?

  2. Maybe if they put more 'contracts' on some other trivial membets of the House they can then justify not having a vote until Christmas of 2017.

  3. How convenient that this rumor materialized right after gold broke well past 1300. Calling the bluff of this risible nonsense made for an excellent short-term trade. I'm sure there will be many more such convenient rumors to come as the golden canary in the Keynesian gold mine continues to squeal.

  4. The part about him shouting "Britain first" has been debunked.
