Uber to Suspend Operations in Budapest

Uber has announced today that government measures have made it impossible for the company to operate properly in Hungary and that it will suspend its activities in the capital city of Budapest.

According to MarketWatch, the Hungarian parliament, in which the governing Fidesz party holds a majority, passed legislation in June that virtually bans Uber’s operations. While not naming Uber specifically, the legislation says that authorities may block access to car services, including mobile applications and websites, for as long as 365 days if operators fail to comply with regulations.

Hungarian government officials said in June that Uber should adhere to existing taxi regulations that set prices, dictate which car models were allowed and what age and color they should be The vehicles, painted yellow, must be driven by licensed chauffeurs and have livery plates.

Hungary is the birthplace on new world order crony George Soros.
