Obamacare Sign-Ups Have Been Half of What Was Expected

The masses are not as gullible as the government and Paul Krugman thought,

The Washington Post reports:
Enrollment in the insurance exchanges for President Obama’s signature health-care law is at less than half the initial forecast, pushing several major insurance companies to stop offering health plans in certain markets because of significant financial losses.

As a result, the administration’s promise of a menu of health-plan choices has been replaced by a grim, though preliminary, forecast: Next year, more than 1 in 4 counties are at risk of having a single insurer on its exchange, said Cynthia Cox, who studies health reform for the Kaiser Family Foundation.
Naturally,  Obama wants to go even more socialist:
Obama has used the health-care law’s challenges to issue a new call for a public insurance option.
“Congress should revisit a public plan to compete alongside private insurers in areas of the country where competition is limited,” he wrote in an essay published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. “Adding a public plan in such areas would strengthen the Marketplace approach, giving consumers more affordable options while also creating savings for the federal government.”
Yeah right, coercing taxpayers to pay for a crony public plan is the answer,

You really have to wonder: Is Obama that clueless or that evil?

  1. Government interference in medical care has been from the very beginning been about fighting low prices. The initial entry was to do away with lodge care and other options. Every reform since then has been to preserve prices above and beyond the capacity of the customer to pay and push them higher. Practically nobody understands or bothers to learn the history and that includes Obama.

People like Obama want control while other people want to control their neighbors. Medical care can be leveraged to control just about any aspect of a person's life. You can't do whatever, you might hurt yourself and that would be a cost to taxpayers will be an ever present aspect of life once government gets control. Companies may at first think that government single payer will work like Bushcare. Institutionalized high prices with taxpayers forced to pay them. However the end result is that care will be rationed. Another power play. Politicians will become the granters of medical care. If you need an operation you'll need to beg your senator unless you have enough money to buy him.

So it's both. They are evil and they are ignorant of the history. A horrific combination. Now those who have been pushing to manage society for the last century plus are simply evil.

  2. I know some people that have bent over backwards to figure out how to comply with Obozocare. At some point, they realized they simply couldn't afford the insurance in addition to housing and food for themselves and their families. Guess which item got dropped from the budget? Plus there are any number of ways to be exempt from the tax. And these people aren't even political.

Some, as you have posted recently, have argued that the gov't should get "more tyrranical" to enforce Obozocare. Problem is, the optics get really bad for gov't when they start attacking those at the lower end of the economic scale with heavy fines and other more overtly coercive tactics. They might try, but, in the end, you can't get blood from a stone.

  3. I never saw the "Affordable Health Care Act" as the so called 'Final Solution.' It was merely a stepping stone to make private insurance health care so bad that single payer health insurance would seem preferable in contrast.
