These deals have nothing to do with "democracy." Government agencies, such as the Federal Communications Commission and the Antitrust division of the DOJ, have a lot to do with influencing the material put out over mainstream media outlets. Clearly Trump is not a free market guy. But his opinion of these mergers is not the best evidence of that. These companies wouldn't exist without monopolistic government franchises. Their merger is like merging the state governments of NY and NJ. Prices will go up and quality will go down and the vote of each citizen will become even less meaningful.

Perhaps but that does not mean El Trumpo is correct or that you are correct in your assessment. You may have four giant companies merging in pairs but that only means MORE competition and not less. A race between two is always more exiting and more stressful for the competitors that a race between 200.
