U.S. Jobless Claims at 42-Year Low

Filings for U.S. unemployment benefits were at a four-decade low over the past two weeks.

Jobless claims were 246,000 in the period ended Oct. 8, unchanged from the previous week’s level, which was revised lower, according to the Labor Department.

Total filings in each of the last two weeks were the lowest since November 1973.

You are delusional if you think this is what a recession looks like.

  1. I think you mean to say, that you're delusional if you think the FED between now and then will raise rates 3 to 4 times.

  2. I just sit back and chuckle. RW, please correlate with Industrial Production or the Restaurant Performance Index which are telling us the exact opposite.

Could it be that the pool of eligible claimants is shrinking? Pfft, you say. All is well.

    1. In Mr Wenzel's defense, claiming that the present evidence is counter-indicative of a recession is not tantamount to claiming that "all is well." The damage, as Austrians know, is done during the boom.
