George Soros Builds Stake in Goldman Sachs (His Man is in at Treasury)

George Soros's hedge fund Soros Fund Management added a position in Goldman Sachs Group Inc. to its portfolio in the fourth quarter of 2016, perhaps initiated at Donald Trump was elected president.

The position was disclosed today in a 13F filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, a quarterly requirement for investors managing more than $100 million.

On the sell-side, the fund eliminated its position in the iShares China Large-Cap exchange-traded fund, the largest China-focused ETF in the U.S.

The former Goldman Sach banker Steven Mnuchin was sworn in as Treasury Secretary yesterday. After Mnuchin left Goldman, he established the company SFM Capital Management together with Soros.
