Top Metro Destinations for Unocumented Immigrants

Most of the United States’ 11.1 million unauthorized immigrants live in just 20 major metropolitan areas, with the largest populations in New York, Los Angeles and Houston, according to new Pew Research Center estimates based on government data.

By far the biggest unauthorized immigrant populations were in the New York and Los Angeles metro areas (1.2 million and 1 million, respectively). No other metro area approached a million. Among the top 20 areas, the smallest unauthorized immigrant populations included Orlando (110,000) and Austin (100,000).

Unauthorized immigrants account for about one-in-four foreign-born U.S. residents. They make up a somewhat higher share of immigrants in the Houston (37%), Dallas (37%), Atlanta (33%), Phoenix (37%), Las Vegas (35%), Denver (37%) and Austin (34%) metro areas. They make up a somewhat lower share of all immigrants in the New York (19%), Miami (18%), San Francisco (17%) and San Jose (17%) metro areas.

Because that's where the greatest demand for labor is, of course.

    1. Surely there's no culture left in those cities on account of the immigrants destroying it, no?

    2. If one accepted the warnings and portents from Trumpistas, one would think that no American lives in LA or NYC any more.

  2. So when can we round these bastards up and send them back to their country of origin. That would open the labor market to already unemployed SJW's who need to get in touch with the working class anyway. Maybe Torres and those like him who think unrestricted immigration is wonderful could get a bad case of untreatable TB from one of these precious creatures.

This would not be hard to do. Just need the will.

    1. So you're against immigration? http://s2.quickmeme.com/img/6c/6c360cadcb59bb5c71150875ca1f4306acb0c19d47651a524b96ad4db0671b77.jpg

    2. Yes I am! We also need a 10 year moratorium on legal immigration by abolishing the H-1 program. That meme is stupid since there is also a good chance a number of white Europeans may have made it to the east coast thousands of years ago. Who did they wipe out? And if the roles were reversed, they would have done the same thing given their penchant for oppressing other tribes of 'natives'. Besides, what was lost? Not like anyone wants to go back to Aztec rule with bloody ritual sacrifices?

I honestly don't understand the Trumpistas' obsession with the H1B visa program. It is almost like they think it is bad JuJu or something.

By the way, Eisenhower DIDN'T solve the "problem" of illegal crossings to the US. That's a lie. His administration rounded up and deported 250,000 individuals (some numbers floating around suggest that the number was 1.3 million) of which many came back anyway, either by crossing or through guest worker programs which were implemented at the same time.

  3. You keep using that word "Unauthorized". I do not think it means what you think it means. The constitution, flawed document that it is, does not authorize the Federal government to do anything about immigration. So these "unauthorized immigrants" are actually just "immigrants".

    1. The Supreme Court's basis for action is clear when the area regulated is naturalization. Article 1, § 8, clause 4, of the United States Constitution specifically grants Congress the power to establish a "uniform Rule of Naturalization." ..

Naturalization and Authorization are not the same thing.
