U.S. Imposes New Sanctions on Iran

In a statement Friday morning, the Treasury Department published a list of 13 individuals and 12 entities facing new restrictions for supporting the missile program, having links to terrorism or providing support for Iran’s hard-line Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The entities include companies based in Tehran, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and China.

Most analysts seem to view the sanctions has not having a particularly onerous direct impact on the Iranian regime. More a slap on the wrist.

UPDATE

Via CNBC:

A senior U.S. administration said Friday's sanctions were an "initial step" in response to Iran's "provocative behavior," suggesting more could follow if Tehran does not curb its ballistic missile program and continues support for Houthi militia in Yemen.

  1. Well, my one reason for voting for Trump was I thought he seemed less likely to start a war than Hillary. Now it seems his biggest redeeming virtue isn't even there. While I do not expect a war against Iran any time soon, the main reason for sanctions is to escalate tensions so that war is more likely to happen.

    Very disapointing.
