France, Italy, Germany Blast Trump on Paris Accord Withdrawal

Following President Donald Trump's mid-day press conference in the Rose Garden where he announced he was withdrawing the US government from the Paris accord and stated that it should be renegotiated, the leaders of France, Italy, and Germany issued a scathing statement saying that the climate deal can not be renegotiated.

"We deem the momentum generated in Paris in December 2015 irreversible and we firmly believe that the Paris Agreement cannot be renegotiated, since it is a vital instrument for our planet, societies and economies," the leaders of the three countries said in a joint statement, signed by Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron .

Reports indicate that UK Prime Minister Theresa May was asked to join in the statement but she declined.
