AMAZING: For It's One Hour Service, Amazon Stores Items in Its Warehouse Randomly

  1. This video only explained what but not why. And I'm pretty sure the frozen stuff is stored in the same areas which would seem to go against the unexplained logic behind the randomness in the video.

  2. I have taken a tour of one of Amazon's warehouses, and they explained that they do this because it avoids workers having to line up or get in each other's way when picking the same object for different orders.

    Incidentally, the other interesting aspect of the tour was observing how labor intensive the operation is. They still have lots of people picking and packing, because each order is customized.
