Venezuela's Price Inflation Hits an Annual Rate of 952%

Prof. Steve Hanke who has been tracking the price inflation in Venezuela has put out this chart.

At an annual rate of 952%, prices are climbing approximately 18% per week.

Notice there can be occasional dips in the inflation rate,

The United States is nowhere near threatened in the near future with Venezuelan type price inflation but don't be suckered into thinking that inflation in the US will stay around the 2% level. In the near future, a spike to the 5% range is a very real possibility.

  1. Isn't a 952% annualised inflation the equivalent of prices climbing 4.63% a week?
