Thank You, Janet Yellen: San Francisco Becomes the Highest-Income Major US Metro Area




The Federal Reserve fueled Silicon Valley money spigot is running at full blast.

According to the Census Bureau’s latest American Community Survey, the San Francisco, Calif. metro area has just surpassed Washington, D.C. as the highest-earning large metro area in the nation.

The city’s median income rose to $96,667 in 2016, just above the $95,843 median in Washington, D.C.

San Francisco’s median income rose by 9.2% in 2016. The median income in the DC-Metro area, where Fed chair Janet Yellen lives, registered a median income advance of 2.7% over the same period.
