Disaster in Red: The Hundredth Anniversary of the Russian Socialist Revolution

Richard Ebeling emails:

Dear Bob,

My new article on the website of the Future of Freedom Foundation is on, “Disaster in Red: The Hundredth Anniversary of the Russian Socialist Revolution.”

November 7th marks a century since the Russian Revolution that brought communism into power in Russia. Never in modern history was there a political-economic system that has brought
more destruction to humanity in terms of loss of life as well as terror and tyranny.

Not that there were not critics of socialism before the Russian Revolution, but like the history of socialism-in-practice in the twentieth century, itself, few know what was warned about or what totalitarian collectivism with central planning did, in fact, to untold tens of millions of people. School history books rarely talk about it, and the “politically correct” intellectuals and commentators prefer to gloss over a gruesome episode in human history that is an embarrassment for those on political “the left.”

Yet, it should not be forgotten and there a links to some articles that would make clean the terrible misfortune that humanity has suffered in the name of “making the bright, beautiful socialist utopia to come.”
