Pompeo Lands in Saudi Arabia, Immediately Calls for New Sanctions against Iran

The secretary of state has commenced a three-day tour designed to rally American allies in the Middle East, reports Reuters.

“We are urging nations around the world to sanction any individuals and entities associated with Iran’s missile program, and it has also been a big part of discussions with Europeans,” Brian Hook, a senior policy advisor on Pompeo’s team, told journalists shortly after landing in the Saudi capital of Riyadh on Saturday evening, according to Reuters.

In the Saudi Kingdom, Pompeo met with Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir and the evil, reckless Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The trip will next take the secretary of state to Israel and then Jordan.

As Justin Raimondo has written:
The concept of economic sanctions as a weapon also assumes international economic regulations and enforcement agencies, setting up a cadre of bureaucrats who sit in judgment of "outlaw nations": in effect, the apparatus of world economic planners. And contrary to Wilson's predictions, real war has often followed the use of sanctions.
