Note to the "There is No Price Inflation" Department: Starbucks Raising Price of a Brewed Coffee

Starbucks says it's raising the price of a regular drip coffee by 10 cents to 20 cents this week in most US stores, reports CNBC.

The current price of a small brewed coffee is $1.95 to $2.15 in the majority of locations, so you are looking at a 5% to 10% hike. This is on top of earlier hikes this year of between 1% and 2%.

  1. They have to pay for the additional rest room cleaning and maintenance somehow...

    1. I think that either Tom Woods or Don Boudreaux brought up this point - but notice that no one ever calls for tariffs on coffee? We import almost all of it - but we CAN grow it in Hawaii...or we can substitute chicory. Time for an AMERICA FIRST policy on coffee imports.

    2. How about instead of "America First", we try "Americans First" and let people trade freely without tariffs and taxes on their coffee, tea, or whatever.
