But the data show otherwise.
You have to watch Paul Krugman carefully because he can be a Lefty sneak with distorted data but he presents truth here:
-RWA note for Tariff Man, who thinks foreigners pay tariffs. Here are steel prices in the US and world export markets as the Trump tariff went into effect, from https://t.co/m7uomPIJrB Kind of looks as if Americans paid the tariff, doesn't it? pic.twitter.com/c8jQnDGak1— Paul Krugman (@paulkrugman) December 9, 2018
I work for a distributor that sells products that are pretty much all steel. We are getting hit with that tariff right at the dock in Long Beach for every shipping container that comes in. The Customs and Duties have shot up and we are paying them. We have had to pass the cost increase to all of our vendors. I don't know if they have passed the increase on to their customers, but they will eventually.
ReplyDeleteOur manufacturers in China have declined to absorb any of the cost of tariffs, except for minor things like parts.
