Daley Machine Sends Message to Obama

William Daley, brother of Chicago's Mayor Richard Daley has placed the equivalent of the head of a dead horse on President Obama's bed.

In today's WaPo, Daley pens an op-ed where in part he writes:

Either we plot a more moderate, centrist course or risk electoral disaster not just in the upcoming midterms but in many elections to come...Witness the drumbeat of ominous poll results. Obama's approval rating has fallen below 49 percent overall and is even lower -- 41 percent -- among independents. On the question of which party is best suited to manage the economy, there has been a 30-point swing toward Republicans since November 2008, according to Ipsos. Gallup's generic congressional ballot shows Republicans leading Democrats. There is not a hint of silver lining in these numbers. They are the quantitative expression of the swing bloc of American politics slipping away.
Translation: Pelosi, Reid, Obama cut the Commie crap.

But the big question is, why does the Daley machine, that was at the launching pad of the Obama for President campaign, have to reach out to Obama through a WaPo op-ed? Is Obama dissing the Daley machine? If so, this is very scary stuff. The Daley's are about political cronyism, but they always allowed a good degree of free markets to operate in Chicago. If the Daley's can't control Obama's lust for left wing controls, this is a very dangerous sign.

  1. Bill Daley is no dummy. I agree, if he has to write this and go public, then he must feel things are getting out of control--that before the Obama Administration can get a full year in, they have already overplayed their hand.
