HOT: Bloomberg Does a Judas Christie

Mayor Bloomberg has announced he will impose odd-even gas rationing starting tomorrow.

Yes, instead of allowing prices to rise, which would draw more gasoline into the city, the Mayor is doing what central planners always do, impose even more restrictive regulations, which make life even more difficult for everyone.

The same thinking is coming to Obamacare. Be prepared, stay healthy.

From the Mayor's "Emergency Order":

Vehicles with license plates ending in an even number or the number “0” can make purchases of motor fuel on even numbered days.
Vehicles with license plates ending in an odd number can make purchases of motor fuel on odd numbered days.
Vehicles with licenses plates ending in a letter or other character can make purchases on odd numbered days.
Commercial vehicles, emergency vehicles, buses and paratransit vehicles, Medical Doctor (MD) plates and vehicles licensed by the Taxi and Limousine Commission are exempt.

  2. I just want to point out that 0 *is* an even number.

  3. Wait a minute! Regular New York odd number drivers have to wait longer in lines clogged up with fancy-pants vanity plate jerks? Why is Bloomberg favoring even (and "0", who knew?) drivers like that? Here's an idea: no gas ever for vanity plate drivers. That'll teach 'em.

  4. Yes, it is totally stupid and, at this point, what is this going to do but make the situation even more chaotic. According to Cuomo, 2 to 3 days worth of supply was interrupted more than a week ago. Anyone paying attention can see the gas lines are already dramatically thinning and the shortage probably would be over by the end of the weekend. A control freak like Bloomberg just can't leave well enough alone, even when it makes no sense.

  5. Robert, it's even worse than you think. The governor has imposed odd-even rationing on New York City AND Long Island:
