An Object Lesson in Mainstream Reporting

Although MSM loves to attack bloggers for posting erroneous reports, MSM is not exempt from such reports. There were a lot of early erroneous accounts from MSM surrounding the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

But Sandy Hook is not an anomaly, it happens frequently. Because I read reports from various news sources, I see it often. I will even see a man being reported as murdered with a knife, by one MSM outlet, when another will report the victim was killed with a gun.

Usually the  inconsistencies come about because of conflicting reports from government. It's as if they can't get their stories straight.

Consider. Yesterday, I reported on the arrest of a Greenwich Village couple who allegedly had bomb making equipment in their apartment.

Here's how NyPo reported the story yesterday:

Cops found the stash in the couple’s West Ninth Street home Saturday when they went there to look for Gliedman, 27, who was wanted for alleged credit-card theft.

A detective discovered a plastic container with seven grams of a white chemical powder called HMTD, which is so powerful, cops evacuated several nearby buildings.

Here's how they are reporting the story this morning:

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said cops — acting on a tip from a couple whom Gliedman and Greene let use their shower after meeting them in Washington Square Park — found seven grams of HMTD, a highly explosive white powder, in the apartment.

On another note, most of "terrorist" busts to date have been FBI setup/sting operations, it's not clear what went on in this situation, but it would be damn interesting to know who the couple was that used the shower and reported Gliedman and Greene to the police.
