U.S. Postal Service to Halt Saturday Mail Delivery

The U.S. Postal Service plans to stop delivering mail on Saturdays starting Aug. 1, reports WaPo.

The state is a gigantic inefficient monster. This is just another example. The Postal Service said that it suffered a $15.9 billion net loss for fiscal 2012, which ended Sept. 30. That’s three times the loss recorded a year earlier.

In a free market economy, the only way to determine just how often people want mail delivery, in the age of email, is to close down the USPS and see what private operators emerge and what services they offer---without any government subsidies or oversight.

  2. The typical postal worker is paid around $25 per hour. This is in addition to their lavish fringe benefits.

  3. Peter Schiff pointed out that even though there is no inflation, the USPS raised prices for international delivery by 40% to 100%

Domestic price hikes are "price controlled" via tying to CPI, so they only raised those by <2%, continuing to pretend there is no inflation.
