Case-Shiller index of Home Prices in 20 Cities Rose 0.9%


The Case-Shiller index of home prices in 20 cities rose 0.9% in August from July to 160.55, the highest level since 2008.

  1. Since 2000 is 100, that's an annual rate of appreciation of 3.4%/year from 2000 to 2014. Headline inflation during that time has been 2.4%/year. Home prices should track the headline CPI. A home that should cost 139,000 costs 160,000.
