You Can Always Count on Jon Stewart to Advance NYT Distortions

  1. What was distorted? I did not even read the NY Times article. I listened to the video and heard what he said. He's parroting the standard right wing nonsense which compares govt programs to slavery. He said he saw a bunch of black people sitting on a patio and assumed they were all lazy, unproductive, on welfare and he wondered if they would be better off enslaved and picking cotton. If you don't understand that he is expressing racism, then you're not a big fan of reality. Apparently in libertyland, a racist needs to literally identify himself as a racist by arguing that whites are superior to blacks. Anything short of that is not racist. The bar is not set that high in the real world.

    1. Kind of how like left wingers see anyone that has more than them and immediately assumes they must have done something underhanded to get what they have. Or how they characterize anyone that is stupid or lazy by using a southern accent. And as far as the welfare state goes, if you honestly think the current welfare system has been good for blacks, you are utterly delusional and obviously have very little care for the plight of this group. Liberals are good at handing problems to the government and then walking away. The programs end up being for the benefit of unionized government workers that do little to help the people they were intended to help but act as a great conduit of funds for the Democratic party. I honestly don't think the left gives a rats-behind about the poor and especially blacks. They see them as easy votes to forward their agenda no matter how often that agenda goes against this group, like their positions on immigration and environmentalism. And lastly, the most racist people today are on the left. Just look at what the left does when a black or Hispanic person disagrees with their agenda or comes out as a conservative. All of a sudden its acceptable to say racist hurtful things. And then look at Reid's comments in 2008 regarding Obama. Had a Republican said that, they would be out of office in no time. The right certainly has its issues with racism, but not near as bad as the left which appears to be completely oblivious to it in their own ranks.

  2. The state worshiper cannot question The State's illusions. The State is literally their God. It will wipe away ever tear, it end hunger, it will end poverty, it will defeat death itself, blah, blah, blah

Remember, the Statist hates us because we protest our bondage. He hates us because we resent our chains. He envies us because we dare to stand.

    1. You bet BT. They've made the state into a god. How the hell is that different than a Communist? Or to put it another way, a complete fucking idiot?

    2. Except if you're in Christ, then you're not in bondage (no matter what "oppression" or persecution the state or anyone else throws at you). Libertarians are idolaters just as much as statists, only their god is the philosophy of humanism. Every libertarian who throws out some Bible verse that mentions "liberty" to justify their philosophy is misunderstanding the meaning of the word as it's used in the Bible.

  3. Is Stewart the Grand Inquisitor of the regime? Or is he merely its Court Jester?
