Breaking Down the Counties: Some Strong Results for Murray Sabrin

Although Murray Sabrin lost the New Jersey Republican Senate primary race to Jeff Bell, a look at the county by county results shows some impressive numbers for Murray's decidedly libertarian-oriented campaign.

It's a lesson for other libertarian oriented politicos. People will respond positively to a consistent message of freedom.

Murray, by the way, is in the process of putting together an op-ed where he will discuss a major factor that contributed to his loss (Hint: Think the Fat Man).

In a conversation I had today with Murray, he tells me that he has met with Bell and that Bell is sympathetic to Murray's anti-Fed views.

Among the highlights of the four man race, Murray came in first in Middlesex County and Salem County. He came in second in Burlington County,  Hudson County, Hunterdon County, Monmouth County, Morris County, Union County and Warren County.

What really hurt Murray was his poor showing in the very large Ocean County, where the Fat Man has a lot of influence.

A full breakdown of the race, county-by-county, is available at Politico.

  1. Sabrin also didn't take Bergen County which is the other Republican stronghold county in the state.

  2. The NJ GOP also sabotaged Steve Lonegan's attempt to win a seat in Congress! The last thing that the GOP leadership wants is a doggedly determined Free Market Small Government proponent who won't compromise his values or shut up and fall in line!
